Jan-23-13  capanegra: This result might be a tragedy for Fernando Peralta at the end of the tournament. He was leading head to head with Sabino Brunello far away from the other participants. Brunello had won his game against Gretarsson, so Fernando needed to win this game also to maintain the lead with the Italian. He was won in fact, and after 78.Kc8 reached the following position:

Black played the natural 78…Rd6?? and after the exchanges and 82.h5! arrived to a theoretical draw. The clue is that with 80.Kd7 the White ♔ attacks the Bishop and wins a crucial tempo to get into the square and stop the Pawn.

The winning continuation was 78…Kf7 79.Ra7+ Ke8 80.Ra6 Rd8+ 81.Kb7 Kf7 82.Rf6+ Kg7 followed by Bxh4.
