FSR: As with 1...a6 and 2...h6, see C van Oosterom vs Sadler, 2010, this opening has struck me as rather like giving the finger to one's opponent. I recall that Gottschall, Adolf Anderssen's biographer, claimed that 1...Nf6 was so weak that it lost even at piece odds, i.e. with White's queen knight off the board. Obviously a ridiculous claim.
Jun-21-14  Shams: Cheeky little scamp.
Jun-21-14  hedgeh0g: A recipe for Fressinet!
Jun-21-14  Nicocobas: <FSR> Flipping him off or psyching him out? It seems as if the only way to beat Carlsen is to hit him on the head with a baseball bat before he can make his first move.

perfidious: A top-level appearance for Joel Benjamin's old favourite, as Carlsen was trying all sorts of unusual stuff--rather than his serious praxis, anyway.
Jul-10-14  Ke2: Wait what?????
Aug-27-14  Ke2: Is this called the Brooklyn Variation because hustlers use it on the streets of Brooklyn as a psychological tactic?
Oct-04-15  Cedroke: Since Carlsen and Fressinet work together I'm sure he played the Brooklyn just to mix things up and have an untheoretical game.

Most likely because Benjamin is a native of Brooklyn.

Richard Taylor: I played this in a simul against Spassky as all I needed to prepare was to play Ng8 and then my job was to counter attack. I saw it by chance in an opening book (ECO) in 1988.
