Sep-16-15 | | alfamikewhiskey: At the live broadcast, this game was exceptionally intense. Several of Yi's moves towards the end were made having only one second left on the clock (10 sec increments). 37.e6? loses. 37.Nxa8 may have lead to a draw? |

Sep-16-15 | | Marmot PFL: Many positions in the French look better for white than they really are. Players lose some games trying for too much, or losing time looking for things they could not find, and maybe that happens here. The young Fischer also had problems in the French. |

Sep-16-15 | | Marmot PFL: Black plays very well in a complicated position. |
|
Sep-16-15 | | Bruce Graham: Win or lose, Wei Yi brings a sharp toolbox to the scrap. Minutes later, he won the next game against the same opponent. |
|
Sep-16-15 | | Martin Riggs: What da Vovk?!?!:D Joking aside: This 1, with no ifs and buts, was the game of the day. Congrats! :0] |

Sep-16-15 | | zoren: Line starting from a variant from the text 9...cxd4 instead of c4, curiously is read in favor of Black by engines at their initial glance. It's a very well known line of course where Black pitches a piece but I'm not sure why the ensuing complications should suggest why BLACK should be better after 9 moves of logical play. I've seen it a few times in tournament practice as well and this line is just annoying to face with White. It appears W has a slight spacial advantage, superior placed pieces, but Black is perfectly positioned to make obvious moves that nibble at the center. |

 | | Sally Simpson: Chris has made some fine posts in the past see Philidor vs Cotter, 1789 (kibitz #57) However, same thread a few days later. Philidor vs Cotter, 1789 (kibitz #76) Maybe he has finally got himself a 'qwerty' keyboard.
Hope so, some of his posts before they went off kilter were very good. |

May-08-24 | | alshatranji: Shrinarayanan and Sally Simpson. Thank you for pointing this out. It's almost spooky. It could be a conformation of the infinite monkey theorem (on a much smaller scale). It's funny how these posts are (almost) fully coherent, not just a phrase or two, while his posts are usually entirely incoherent. |

May-09-24 | | King.Arthur.Brazil: I tried this line but it didn't work: 28...Qh1+ 29. Kf2 Qf3+ 30. Kg1 Qg4+ 31. Kf2 Qxf4+ 32. Ke1 Qc1+ 33. Kf2 Qd2+ 34. Qe2 Qf4+ 35. Ke1 Bf3. If B thy to escape with 29. Kf2 Qf3+ 30. Ke1 Qe4+ 31. Kd1 Bd5. (31. Qe2 Qxf4 32. Nc5 Bf3). Maybe, 28...Qh1+ 29. Kf2 Qf3+ 30. Ke1 Qe4+ 31. Kd1 Bc6?!... |
