Nov-14-06  dbquintillion: There needs to be a search for worst player in the database (not NN). And you couldn't count Boris Becker, etc. This person would be in the running, I suspect.
Nov-14-06  percyblakeney: Here's another Kanakari game from this year's Greek Team Championship. She's doing quite fine until things begin to go wrong at the tenth move:

alexmagnus: <percy> How did she get to that championship anyway? Something curious must have happened. Reminds me of the case when Kelly Cottrell played in the US Championship (2006) because she was the only woman in one of qualifying tournaments. Still, Cotrell was rated at least 1600ish, Kanakari playes like a 500...
May-27-08  nummerzwei: It´s a team championship with a defined number of women´s boards. I think she´s just playing in a weak team or a club which doesn´t care about the women´s boards or is low on players. Perhaps, she isn´t even a chessplayer by herself but the daughter/wife of the team captain /club president (or what you may think of) who knows how to move and therefore helps out when there aren´t enough female players that can play. This is why I wouldn´t take her games (of course dreadful regarding the quality of her play) too seriously.

Ok, that's an understatement
Jan-22-12  goodevans: <dbquintillion: There needs to be a search for worst player in the database>

I would nominate Atharva Bhajne except that he's managed a couple of wins! Nevertheless his games, particularly Atharva Bhajne vs Ayush Jugele, 2008, are truly remarkable.

OK, so he was even younger than Kanakari when he played them. Perhaps we should be looking for the worst <adult> player in the database.

Jan-22-12  King Death: The player Kelly Cottrell gets my vote of all the players I've seen here so far. Those games are ugly.

WannaBe: Is Kelly and GM B. Finegold still an item? I've been out of the Chess Celebrity Loop...
Jan-22-12  King Death: <WannaBe> Her picture's at the bottom of this page, maybe she took her talents elsewhere. http://www.chessbase.com/newsdetail...

WannaBe: <King Death> I've seen both Ben and Kelly in person. The pic on his page is still from moi. =)
