GrahamClayton: 'Mr David Heiman, one of Sydney's best-esteemed chess players, died suddenly last Saturday. He had been ailing for a considerable time. His style of play was most attractive. He represented New South Wales in the Australian Congress in Adelaide in 1887, where he secured the fourth prize. He had the distinction of winning a beautiful game against the well-known English player, Mr Gossip, who took part in the congress.'

Brisbane Courier, 26 July 1902.
