Sep-29-09  whiteshark: Meister Paul Wächter stirbt 1949

Wie erst jetzt bekannt wird, ist der Berliner Meisterspieler Paul Wächter (geb. 29.09.06 in Berlin) am 2.Februar 1949 nach langer und schwerer Krankheit verstorben. Wächter gewann die Brandenburgische Meisterschaft 1925 und 1926; er war erfolgreicher Teilnehmer an zahlreichen Berliner Turnieren und Mannschaftskämpfen. Der Verstorbene hing mit großer Liebe am Schachspiel, das ihm auch in seinem schweren Leiden etwas Ablenkung und Freude brachte. Sein Spiel war wissenschaftlich, genau und gut durchdacht; er war für jeden ein gefährlicher Gegner. Berlins Schachfreunde werden ihn nicht vergessen.
