 | | Tabanus: <Sally S> I did see that, thanks :) I'm collecting the games at Game Collection: GLC Chess Challenge 1986 and will upload the few missing ones. I hope those in 365Chess are reliable. |

 | | perfidious: In 1994, Nunn drolly wrote that Flear had never had as good a result since, whilst noting that he had not got married since, either! |

 | | Tabanus: <Annie> Szirak (1985) was meant as a tribute to you but I did not mean to include "J Horvath" in the standings table. I'm truly and humbly sorry. Please accept my sincere apologies and ... Grrr, fix it :) |

 | | MissScarlett: How long is the backlog in answering questions? |
|
May-25-19
 | | Annie K.: <Tab> Fixed. That's very sweet of you. :) <MissS> Sorry! :) At the moment I'm completely caught up with game uploads, and focusing on correction slips again, with the active editors at highest priority, as always. We also figured out and fixed the issue that was causing the game miscount you reported on Franz Tendering (and all similar cases, about 200 of them). |
|
May-25-19 | | john barleycorn: <AnnieK>, are you running the whole show now? |
|
May-25-19
 | | MissScarlett: Start with Lasker vs ?, 1899. |
|
May-25-19
 | | Annie K.: <john barleycorn> nope. :) <MissS> good point! |
|
May-25-19
 | | Tabanus: <Annie> Thanks! :) On game counts, there is still http://www.chessgames.com/perl/edit... counting 9 games as 10 for four of the players. |
|
May-25-19
 | | Annie K.: <Tab> hmm... now how did *that* happen? Two deleted games, or a side effect of manual standings tampering? |
|
May-25-19
 | | Tabanus: <Annie> No idea. There was indeed some tampering with this event. I've seen this only once before, some time last year on one of the games (in some event). It's no big deal if the feature works in general (which is seems), but if not, it's hard to edit the standings. Game Collection: GLC Chess Challenge 1986 is now complete with 91 games. CG was missing nine games, incl. [Event "GLC Chess Challenge"]

This is the game Flear did not play on his wedding day but one week earlier. I hope 365Chess has the right game. |
|
May-26-19 | | Paint My Dragon: <Tab> Your GLC dates above are all confirmed correct. CHESS magazine April 1986 p.29 and May 1986 pp.60-65 give all the round dates. I had mislaid these mags earlier and have only just found them. |
|
May-26-19
 | | Tabanus: <PMD> Great! I'll wrap it up (is that the term) and promote ASAP. If you have something else from CHESS please let me know. No hurry. |
|
May-27-19 | | Paint My Dragon: <Tab>
Nothing different in those articles that I can see. And none of the articles covered the Flear-Plaskett game, so 365Chess might be your best shot. |
|
May-28-19
 | | Tabanus: <PMD> Thanks. And there's enough for an intro. I'll check ChessBase. Another game is Nunn vs A J Mestel, 1986 which CG originally had as "12, London" and year 1985. But 365Chess says round 12 in GLC 1986. |

May-28-19
 | | Tabanus: Game Collection: Szirak Interzonal 1987 is up for voting. |
|
May-28-19 | | Paint My Dragon: <Tab: Nunn vs Mestel> Again, not one of the featured games in the mags, so I can't help without digging my old Informators out of the loft ( - not a job I'd relish right now). I suppose there is an outside chance that they also met in round 12 of the Lloyds Bank Masters 1985, but it seems unlikely. |
|
May-28-19 | | Paint My Dragon: I just checked the Lloyds Bank Masters 1985 tournament book and they finished on equal points, but didn't meet - neither was there a round 12 (- it was a 9 round Swiss). |
|
May-28-19
 | | Retireborn: <Tab> <PMD> The Nunn-Mestel game is from r12 of the 1986 tourney. It's in Informator as 41/(238) ie it's a note to an Ernst-Hellers game. |
|
May-28-19
 | | Tabanus: Thanks guys. The mags <that> (or which, not who) are indispensable. |
|
May-29-19
 | | Tabanus: Probably best if you read through Game Collection: GLC Chess Challenge 1986 1st draft before I put it too early up for voting. |
|
May-29-19 | | Paint My Dragon: <Tab>
Could you perhaps list Flear-Plaskett below Spassky-Speelman? Otherwise it looks like both were played on the 15th.The text reads well. I'd only suggest:
<next lowest rated player> be changed to 'next to lowest rated player'
. |
|
May-29-19
 | | Tabanus: <Pick My Nit> Thanks. But it ruined my straight right margin :) I put it up for voting, but never to late for more. |

<MissScarlett> Start with Lasker vs NN, 1899 I do not know how helpful it is ...

<Annie> I can't thank you enough for fixing my incorrect notation submissions! I was puzzled that the last one didn't get corrected, until I realized I had not run the last one through my engine and recopied it. This game here now has "cleaned" notation and should go through Olga with a full score now- it's the very last one here: [Event "ZV. d. BV. Tournament"]
