Sep-20-08 | | Aspirador: <Can anyone analyse the game?> LOL, I guess this is an intentional joke. Did you notice that we are on page 1066 of the thread? |
Sep-25-08 | | Ragh: If not intended in jest, then what <A. Anderssen> probably means is that he wants a condensed version of entire 1066 pages into a "single post" analysis of the game or something like that. |
Oct-03-08 | | Super Chess Man: Hey, but right now there is another Arno Nickel we are playing ! Do you think they are the same person, maybe ? |
Oct-08-08 | | A. Anderssen: Super Chess Man: Hey, but right now there is another Arno Nickel we are playing ! Do you think they are the same person, maybe ? Yes, he is the same person. |
Nov-20-08 | | Nietzowitsch: <A. Anderssen> After this crushing defeat Arno Nickel wasn't the same as before, just a mere shadow of his former self. So how can you say <he is the same person>? This is very frivolous of you! |

Jan-05-09 | | WhiteRook48: passed pawn!! wow!! |
Jan-24-09 | | WhiteRook48: let's analyze this game
1. e4!! c5!! those are good so I'll get carried away and give two exclams |
Jan-25-09 | | WhiteRook48: 2. Nf3?! e6?! Ok, these annotations were made by a patzer |
Feb-01-09 | | WhiteRook48: 3 d4 cxd4 4 Nxd4 are okay |
Feb-07-09 | | WhiteRook48: amazing posting on page 986 |
Feb-14-09 | | WhiteRook48: I think 40...Re1 is dubious. I would have preferred 40...Re7, but then 41. a7 is decisive anyway |
Feb-15-09 | | WhiteRook48: 4...a6.
Hmmm. This looks odd, but that's probably because I don't have a good sense of openings |
Feb-21-09 | | WhiteRook48: <A. Anderssen> hilarious |
May-05-09 | | hidude: The World :) |

Jun-07-09
 | | Domdaniel: <WhiteRook48> This was a regular Sicilian Kan line up to move 8 or 9, then a known but slightly offbeat variation to about move 14. The next couple of moves had been seen in published analysis by Lutz (of which both sides were aware) -- but never tried in a significant game. After that we were on our own. If you don't have a good sense of openings to the extent that an early ...a6 in the Sicilian surprises you, I suggest you either (a) avoid the Sicilian, or (b) play through more games in this line. |

Oct-22-10 | | Titicamara: Real good game |
Dec-12-11
 | | Penguincw: How can that rook still be dancing? It's been dancing for nearly 5 years. |
Jan-05-12
 | | Penguincw: I believe it's over 5 years now! |
Jun-24-13
 | | Check It Out: 36.b4 is such a great move. I bet that shook up Arno Nickel quite a bit when he turned on the computer to get the latest move. |
Jan-23-14 | | twinlark: Time for this year's comment! I'm still admiring <18. Qd2>. |
Mar-02-14
 | | OhioChessFan: <lark> yeah, how in The World did we get it voted in? |
Mar-11-15
 | | OhioChessFan: While playing this game, I was so totally absorbed in it I could have told you everything going on at every ply. Now I look at it, and it seems like a Sunday Puzzle of the Day each move and I'd have no idea how to proceed. |
Mar-11-15
 | | OhioChessFan: And many thanks to to <Titicamara> <Penguincw> and <CIO> for keeping the streak of at least one post a year alive. |
Mar-11-15
 | | chancho: I was looking through some of the old posts and saw this name from the past: User: tefthepersian His last post was in the Timmerman game, and he said he would respond to questions to his analysis, but he never did. I hope he is doing well. |

Jun-12-15
 | | Ron: One of the things I'm fascinated about this game are the moves 28. h3 and 29. Kh2.
If memory serves, these moves were advocated by Thorsson, and won by a landslide vote. These moves might not have been the top computer choice. These moves are Karpovian. Karpov makes quiet moves like a3 or h3 and then his opponent's positions collapses a couple of moves later. Maybe 28. h3 and 29. Kh2 are waiting moves which put our esteemed opponent in a kind of zugzwang. |
