Nov-22-06  Thorsson: OK, in RV's b4 line:

<28.b4 Bg7 29.h4 Kh8 30.h5 gxh5 31.Qg5 f6 32.Qxh5>

32...Rg8 33.Rh3 Bf8 34.Qe2 Qg7 35.b5 axb5 36.a6 Re8 37.Rxh7+ Kxh7 38.Qh5+ Qh6 39.Qxe8 Rxg2+!

Nov-22-06  RookFile: No worries, wanna be. I have it all automated.

Stuffing the ballot box is an art form.

Nov-22-06  Karpova: So it can be assumed that 28.h3 (the move leading) is our best choice. 28.b4 preserves our advantage but didn't live up to the great expectations some users had.

there's no other move who keeps our advantage.
28.Qd3 is bad and allwos 28....Bh6. White can survive but a draw would be the best we could achieve. Black equalises at once and gets counterchances. Taking on a6 would lead to a catastrophe.

Nov-22-06  Thorsson: <RandomVisitor: like to take a look at the reasons for Qd3 and see what people thought they were getting.>

Pig. Poke.

Nov-22-06  mang00neg: <RV> At first I liked Qd3 because to protect the pawn the Black Queen would have to decentralize and go to b7 (because I analyzed the other methods to save the pawn - Rc4 and Qb5 - were inferior). I later realized our threat of Qxa6 was rather hallow and that black gets way too much play for the pawn. After deciding that AN would indeed disregard our threat, I looked for other plusses to the move 28. Qd3. I couldn't find many. Qd3 isn't even a good feint imo. I ended up switching my vote.

  Tabanus: <Thorsson> Be nice now - think ahead :)
Nov-22-06  RookFile: Hey, my fxg6 has the bronze medal so far. Come on, only 10 more minutes!
Nov-22-06  izimbra: I suspect that there is a contingent of voters who tend to turn on their chess engine for a few minutes and see what it recommends, and then vote accordingly. If there are several high ranking choices they probably try each of them in this way.
Nov-22-06  Thorsson: 46 Rook files is too much for one chessboard!

  Tabanus: 47, in fact.
Nov-22-06  Thorsson: You know it's a shame that b4 didn't work out. We could have played both Rook files against the middle.
Nov-22-06  CAPA2422: I changed my vote to fxg6.
Nov-22-06  Thorsson: <Tabanus: 47, in fact.>

48. I thought he was joking about the vote loading.

Nov-22-06  thomas1382: the only advantage of h3 i can see is that black must make a choice between 2 or 3 good moves... maybe we can make a new gameplan after black moves...
Nov-22-06  RookFile: Working on the final tweaks now:

for (int i=0; i < 200; ++i)
VoteForMove( 28. fxg6 );

Nov-22-06  kataodgg: i don´t see the point of moving h3, i agree with opening the f file

Nov-22-06  Karpova: <RandomVisitor: I would like to take a look at the reasons for Qd3 and see what people thought they were getting.>

<Robin01: I see the logic behind 28.Qd3. It stops black’s queen from moving to b5 (a possible queen move for black), adds protection to the f5 square, attacks black’s pawn on a6, and allows us to play b3 in case black puts his rook on c4. On the other hand, black can put his bishop on h6 and claim the c1-h6 diagonal (this does not look dangerous for us right now).> Page 725

<Hanada: Yea, I think people are getting caught up with the brazin pawn grab after Qd3. Ok, exclude the pawn grab and look at some of the analysis done by some of the fine members of this forum.I'm sorry, but h3 just looks anemic to me. I would choose fxg6 before h3. Actaully, most of the moves presented for analysis seem superior to h3. IMHO> Page 732

<technical draw: 28.h3 is not a good move. 28.Qd3 or 28.fxg6 is better. Of course I could go back and see why someone suggested 28.h3 and filled the bandwagon but I'm to lazy to do that and it will also be cheating. So the draw votes for 28.fxg6. Next move, please.> Page 732

<Robin01: <kwgurge> I cannot see how 28.h3 is the best move here. Black is not trying to play on the "f" file. 28.Qd3 looks much better than h3 in this position.I am voting for 28.Qd3> Page 734

<Robin01: Why does everybody want to remove black's "a" pawn after Qd3. After 28.Qd3, we play fxg6 and bring pressure down the "f" file!> Page 734

<ASHTWEY: i think b3,is good but qd3 is better> Page 735

<melianis: I think it might be good to get rid of one pair of R's, so it would be easier to lock the black bishop. Unfortunately there's no way to do it since pf5. Qd3 surely does some good. g4 would be my choice in a blitz...> Page 736

<k0mi: i thought Qd3 is better. but i may be wrong.> Page 736

<Stellar King: <<<E<V<<E<R>Y>>B>O>>D>Y I concur that 23.Qd3 is the best move..somebody check it with Fritz9 to see if we are in the right track.> Page 737

<technical draw: Arno Nickel: "If I were to pick one move that caused the White team the game, I would have to pick 28. h3. I consider that the losing move. 28. Qd3 was much better."...Future interview for Chess Life Magazine.> Page 737

<thedoyle: what does h3 do????> Page 742

< thomas1382: I think h3 is just simply a bad move as it accomplisses absolutely NOTHING... You cant wait if u have the advantage and must play an active move... Qd3 seems best to me, making several (positional) treaths> Page 745

<mig55: I did analyses about Qd3 and h3, and found that Qd3 is for me the best..> Page 745

  Domdaniel: <Karpova> An overview of your overview of Qd3: the words 'looks', 'seems', and 'feels' recur, as do phrases like 'I'm too lazy to...' and 'I haven't...'

Enough said. At least we have an accurate muppet count.

Nov-22-06  Thorsson: <Karpova: The best move won!!!!!!!>

Actually the move with the most votes won... ;)
