Tabanus: <TefthePersian: <Artar>: The work there seems to be 30...Qe7, sir, not 29...Qe7.> 29...Qe7 and 30...Qe7 will transpose.

<kwgurge: One ends up playing 6 to 10 hours a day with the second game not ending until 1:00 AM or so.> I did that in 2005. *Never* play in tournaments with two rounds per day after 50 years of age.

Apr-21-07  blegaspi: <guywithgzus: I have been looking at the forum and I am wondering: how many of you are pros?>

I am a pro ... just not in chess;-) I see that 28...Bxd5 has made our candidates list. Even a patzer like me can see this loses our knight to 29. BxB, then we can forget about the draw.

Apr-21-07  rigel1503: blegaspi: <guywithgzus: I have been looking at the forum and I am wondering: how many of you are pros?>

Absolutely right. Admittedly Black has then Qxf2+ but this offers nowhere near enough compensation for the piece down. The capture with the pawn 28. ... exd5 is the only reasonable move

Apr-21-07  Skylark: <Yeah, I know what you mean, and they also do push ups between moves to relieve the boredom!>

Not a joke! Being a young player (well, 18 is reasonably young but I guess it isn't anymore) I find it quite agreeable when I reach a critical position to go outside, find a nice spot away from prying eyes and do some push-ups. Helps get the blood flowing again, and has even a few times prevented me from playing mistakes as tunnel vision develops throughout the course of a game.

I found it highly amusing that you said this, since I actually do it! >< I assure you that it is not out of boredom though. Then again, in a recent weekender I was playing against an 11-year-old who, in between moves, would go out and play handball until he noticed that I had hit my clock...

Apr-21-07  MarkThornton: <TefthePersian: My rating is roughly that of a small pony>

Are you aware that "pony" is UK slang for 1,000? So "a small pony" must be less than that.

I'd have said you were quite a bit stronger than that! ;-)

Apr-21-07  afioonov: <Tefthepersian> are you joking about Be2 or your prog got broken?
Apr-21-07  guywithgzus: doh! <blegaspi> thank you for pointing that out. i have changed my vote.
Apr-21-07  TefthePersian: <MarkThornton>: No, I wasn't aware of that. :P I really don't know my rating, all I know is that I beat one master friend of mine (rated 2100ish as he hasn't played professionally in decades) 6-0, 5-0, etc. when we play. Another master friend, rated 2300, beats me pretty handily.

<Tabanus/Boomie>: Sirs, I believe the initial 29...Qe7 can transpose, of course, but the reason I selected it was to increase the amount of options, whereas after 29...b5, all Yuri has is e6. Increasing the amount of options a player has increases his chances to make a mistake, gives him more to analyze.

  Tabanus: <Tef> Agree.

Btw, is 28...exd5 29.Bh3 Qe7 30.e6 b5 31.Qc3 d4 32.Qg3 <Qf6> a draw? It seems <Artar1> thinks so. I have not slided forward to that point yet. I will.

Apr-21-07  TefthePersian: I don't know if it is a draw, I know my engines rated it that way, but it looked like a bad move to me.

Apr-21-07  TefthePersian: Remember everyone saying that we were losing player after player due to the boredom of the game? 333 votes about a forced recapture. Not bad. ;)
Apr-21-07  RandomVisitor: Will he play 29.Bh3 or 29.a4?

Apr-21-07  TefthePersian: a4 it is. Phew.
Apr-21-07  TefthePersian: Anyone else find Chessbase useless when it comes to using multiple engines? It doesn't divide resources well at all.

Tabanus: Phew. Next: a4 a6 or a4 Qe6? I'm far from sure I agree with the following:

http://googlebattle.com/index.php?d...

Apr-21-07  ChessNe1: Draw requests: less than 10%. That's good news. However, it is looming quite large. That particular statistic may not break 25% until we have only two kings on the board.
Apr-21-07  Chessmaster333: I agree that he probly will play Bh3 or a4 but he also could play Re1. Trying to trade the rook for our bishop and Night! If he does that then his 2 Bishops will probly destoy our rook! we can't let that happen, anyone have any idea how to block that?! Could someone run it through a computer please?
Apr-21-07  Chessmaster333: I think we are losing players at an alarming rate! The world team consists of 1982 players and only 333 took part in our last vote. I know that that was a force capture but still thats not even a quarter of our team. I think we need to get some other people involved.
Apr-21-07  whiteshark: 26 betrayers , imo.

Apr-21-07  cuendillar: <Chessmaster333> One problem - 29.Rd3 Qf5 30.Bf1 Qg6+ 31.Kh1 Qe4+ 32.Kg1 Rf5 comes to mind. I'm currently working to refute the option 31.Rc3, but it doesn't look good for white here. Later on, it's an idea though.
Apr-21-07  cuendillar: What about 29.Rd3? Qf5 30.Rc3 Qxe5(why not take it?) 31.Re3 Qf5 32.Rc3 Nd4 should do the trick, unless I'm missing something.
Apr-21-07  Dick Brain: <chessmaster333> I don't think he will play Re1 since it allows ...d4 (unless, of course, analysis shows that doesn't work).
