Apr-22-07  TefthePersian: So what are the forums? Today is 'draft up huge amounts of analysis' day. That, and I need to buy food. Any suggestions for a young man without any family-folk around to make food? (Preferably cost-effective and nutritious! :P)
Apr-22-07  TefthePersian: Our main options are:

29...Qe6/a6/g6/Kh8/h5/Re8/h6/g5/Rb8.

So this is gonna be a tough one.

chancho: 29...a6 followed by a later b5. We need to add more protection to our c4 Bishop, or we might regret it later on. Of course if a better line comes along, I might change my vote.
Apr-22-07  accetturi: Knightlord,
after 29...d4 30.Bxd4 Nxd4 31.Rxd4 Bb3, if white make 32. Qxb3 we have 32... Qxb3 too.
Apr-22-07  afioonov: hi tef
how is your study going?mine is ending two months hence.and the the conscription! im working on Kh8 now,our position seems to be promising.
Apr-22-07  ganstaman: <renouve: exemple for 29...a6 :

29...a6 30.b5 axb5 31.axb5 Nc5 32.Ba3 Re8 33.Bxc5 bxc5 34.b6 and white can not lose this>

I'm no expert, but how can 31...Nc5 be right? As you show, it seems to give white some play. I don't what's better, but I'm sure there's something.

Apr-22-07  Hugin: Please folks do not confuse the situation there is done a lot analysis on 29 - Kh8 before and now study it carefully ..Might be the last chance we get's in this game..Do everything you can, use human evaluation/ analysis comps several comps go through the lines i've listed please...There are many hours of work behind, some from before and some fresh today....We have the GM up against the wall, i feel it in my entire body....
Apr-22-07  ganstaman: <accetturi: Knightlord,
after 29...d4 30.Bxd4 Nxd4 31.Rxd4 Bb3, if white make 32. Qxb3 we have 32... Qxb3 too.>

32...Qxb3 33. Bd5+ Qxd5 34. Rxd5 and we're just down a pawn in a rook endgame, as far as I can see.

Apr-22-07  Knightlord: < accetturi: Knightlord,
after 29...d4 30.Bxd4 Nxd4 31.Rxd4 Bb3, if white make 32. Qxb3 we have 32... Qxb3 too. >
Yes, but then white plays 33.Bd5+ and after ...Qxd5 34.Rxd5 white has at least a draw.
Apr-22-07  TefthePersian: <Tabanus>: 29...a6 30. Bh3:

30...b5 31. axb5 axb5 32. e6 Qh5 33. e7 Re8 34. Be6+ Kh8

31. e6 Qh5 32. Bg2 Re1 33.

So don't worry about 30. Bh3, worry about the other options. ;)

Apr-22-07  afioonov: so "Hugin get your gun"and"Yury got his gun"
lol
Apr-22-07  TefthePersian: <afioonov>: It's going well, I'm transferring soon. I took two years off to work fulltime, so I'm rather behind people my age, I only have my AA.

chancho: Giving up the d5 pawn by 29...d4, is not advantageous to us at all. That passed pawn is very useful where it is, and it might even be a potential candidate for us later on.
Apr-22-07  afioonov: just kidding

  chancho: <TeftthePersian> <Tabanus> voted for 29...a6.
Apr-22-07  afioonov: Have any1 heard "the one" by Metallica?
when im playing in tournuments and im losing a game i just feel like what he(james) sings!
Apr-22-07  TefthePersian: Not yet, <chancho>, por favor. :)

Really, we've got a hard choice here. I have a feeling two days will only help us barely scratch the truth.

29. a4 a6 30. b5 axb5 31. axb5

This position isn't bad at all for us, but is it significantly better?

Apr-22-07  afioonov: is it a draw?:
29...Kh830. Bf1 a5 31. Bxc4 dxc4 32. Ba3 Re8 33. bxa5 bxa5 34. Rd6 Qf4

35. Qc3 h6 36. Bb2 Nc5 37. Qg3 Qf8 38. Rc6 Ne4 39. Qg2 c3 40. Bxc3 Nxc3

41. Rxc3 Rxe5 *

Apr-22-07  Knightlord: 29...a5 for me, for now. Haven't had yet a proper look though.
Apr-22-07  TefthePersian: <afioonov>: The song I hear when I'm losing is the Velvet Underground's, "Sweet Jane":

"Y'know that women, never really faint,
And that villains always blink their eyes, woo!
And that, y'know, children are the only ones who blush! And that life is just to die!
And, everyone who ever had a heart,
Oh, they wouldnt turn around and break it!
And anyone who ever played a part,
Oh, they wouldn't turn around and hate it!"

kutztown46: <MarkThornton: How are we going to organse the forums?

Excellent question! It seems that our opponent surprised us. We should certainly have a forum for 29...Kh8 and one for 29...a6. Mark said he would take ...Kh8. Who wants to host the ...a6 forum? If anyone else believes another move deserves a forum, go ahead and suggest it or start it yourself and inform the team.

Apr-22-07  TefthePersian: <kutztown>: Where does your name come from?

I think we absolutely need: 29...Kh8, ...a6, and our standard alternatives forum. (Like ...g6/h6/h5/Re8)

And a forum sticky letting people know that 29...Qe6 leads to the strongly favorable but not winning "Teft" endgame.

kutztown46: I now have Fritz 9 installed on my new computer. It's got an Intel dual core processor and 2 GB of RAM. I tried someone's suggestion and set the hash table to 1500 MB but it changes it back to 1056 or something like that. My verdict is that it runs slightly faster than before but not extremely faster. It still takes at least 10 hours to get to 20-ply in most positions. What I will say is that the extra RAM allows Fritz to run and other things at the same time much better than my old computer.

Kutztown (Pa.) is the town I live in. Not very imaginative, I know.

I'll be away for the next four hours and will check in later to see about forum volunteers and/or ideas.

Apr-22-07  afioonov: and when im playing i hear the symphony No.7 by beethoven.
