Introduction
The management of the intercollegiate tournament announced yesterday that Columbia, Harvard, Yale and Princeton have selected their teams for the tournament, which will begin at the Columbia Grammar School in this city on next Monday. A. S. Meyer and K. G. Falk will play for Columbia, E. E. Southard and F. C. Ahrensberg (sic) will do duty for Harvard. L. A. Cook and W. A. (sic) Webb have been chose by Yale, and Alfred C. Weston and John A. Ely, Jr., will be Princeton's representatives. Only three of the above have played in previous intercollegiate contests, Meyer, Cook and Southard. Falk won the interscholastic tournament last year. Of the other men it is sufficient to say that they have done well in the preliminary tourneys of their respective universities, and are expected to do well in the intercollegiate.(1) In the present tournament the universities are represented by the following players:
Columbia—Kaufman G. Falk and Arthur S. Meyer; substitutes, F. H. Sewell and A. W. Parker, Jr.
Harvard—Charles F. C. Arensberg and Elmer E. Southard; substitutes, W. Catchings and F. E. Thayer.
Yale—Louis A. Cook and Arthur (sic) M. Webb; substitutes H. Logan and H. M. Russell.
Princeton—John A. Ely and Alfred S. Weston; substitutes, R. Ely and J. G. Wilson.(2)
Preceded by 6th Intercollegiate Cup, New York (1897/98).
Followed by 8th Intercollegiate Cup, New York (1899).
