Oct-31-03  Benjamin Lau: Go Vishy!!! He's so good in rapid chess that I think he would have been a match for even Fischer and Capablanca.

Open Defence: Yes Mr Lau, Vishy has a nice instinct for good chess, in fact I think he plays by gut feel a lot even in classic time control games which probably explains why he hasn't yet dominated the chess scene like someone with his talent should.

Some feel that Vishy lacks stamina but I am not so sure, the way he came back to tie the match with Karpov and take it to a play off after the exhausting Groningen rounds show that he has a lot of drive and energy, I think it is just an impulsive nature on his part as to why he misses winning lines after doing the hard work

Nov-09-03  Bastrikov: Keep your opinions to yourself
Nov-09-03  Benjamin Lau: Mr. Bastrikov, "Keep your opinions to yourself" seems sort of like an opinion in itself.
Nov-09-03  Diggitydawg: Bastrikov, for you to make such a post on an open forum is totally contrary to the purpose of having a forum. So far I haven't put anyone on my ignore list, but you are a prime candidate to be the first.
Nov-10-03  Bastrikov: Cry like little baby
Nov-10-03  Diggitydawg: Lol, who is being a baby? Congratulations, you're the first to make my ignore list.
Nov-10-03  pawntificator: Someone is having a bad day is all, I'm sure. It's ok, Bastrikov. You don't have to put on the tough guy act for us.
Nov-10-03  PizzatheHut: I think that Bastrikov is GMShirtlessRocketman's new account since his old one was deleted. He says just about the same garbage and tries to create controversy for no reason.
Nov-10-03  Bastrikov: You are all filth. These forums contribute nothing to the game of chess. However, when some idiot insults a chess genius like Anand enough is enough.
Nov-10-03  Benjamin Lau: Mr. Bastrikov, if you would carefully direct your eyes to the bottom right, you will notice a heretofore unseen magical box with the label "Please observe our posting guidelines." Please read it.
Nov-13-03  skagnetti: what were the time limits on these games?
Nov-13-03  Nova1990: <time limits> This was FIDE's World Rapid Championship. Official FIDE Rapid time controls are 25 min/10 sec a move.

<Bastrikov> Take it easy. People are just trying to have fun, expressing their opinions on this forum. There's no need to call anyone filth, an idiot, or a baby. And I don't think anyone was insulting Anand here.

Nov-14-03  Spitecheck: Further to that Nova didn't they, if player's were on level score after two games with each other, go down to 5:5 or 3:3 (mins per game:increment per move) time controls.

Spitecheck

Nov-14-03  Nova1990: Spitecheck, I don't know. Anyone who can answer their question?
Nov-14-03  tvanw55: Dumb question: how does strategy during speed games and speed game tournaments differ from non speed games and tournaments?
Nov-14-03  PinkPanther: <Dumb question: how does strategy during speed games and speed game tournaments differ from non speed games and tournaments?>

Play in faster games tends to be more attack oriented, resulting in fewer draws and more decisive results. You have to look no further than the Anand-Polgar match in July, where every game was decisive, not even a single draw.

Nov-14-03  drukenknight: basically in speed games, you are more likely to play stuff that might be unsound but hard to figure out the answer over the board. lots more sacks for instance, even if they dont work at classic time, they may work at speed.
Nov-15-03  skagnetti: were any games lost on time? (i'm too lazy to look through them all)
Nov-22-03  Fisto: I own you skagnetti

Eggman: Can someone tell me: how do you find the message board for an event? If I wanted to find the board for, say, the "2002 Russian Championships", how would I go about doing that?
Nov-22-03  shadowmaster: Eggman: New Games Page It's on the home page on the left hand side.

  Eggman: Thanks, shadowmaster.
Nov-22-03  FeArMySkiLLz: Isnt the kings Indian the best defense for d4
Nov-22-03  Benzol: <FeArMySkiLLz> Given its scarce appearances at World Championship level I'd have to disagree with you.
