Apr-19-07  Tomlinsky: I think Kotronas has slipped up in the endgame and Negi should get the draw.

49..g4 looks like a fluff.

Apr-19-07  gmgomes: Kotronas is still fighting for his full point, but Negi´s b pawn looks dangerous.
Apr-19-07  gmgomes: After a long battle, Negi assured a draw!
Apr-19-07  cuendillar: They showed Timman-Hector at the club tonight. Amazing attacking play by black!
Apr-19-07  Tomlinsky: <cuendillar: They showed Timman-Hector at the club tonight. Amazing attacking play by black!>

Hector is one of the few players at the moment where I actually can't wait to pore over what he has come up with over the board regardless of result. There is an individuality in his play that seems outright cheeky along with a dash of humour at times that is refreshing and appeals.

Apr-20-07  PhilFeeley: That really was an amazing attack by Hector yesterday. Where did Timman go wrong?
Apr-20-07  PhilFeeley: Negi looks to be in trouble this morning. 9...Rh6 doesn't look very smart. Aren't we told not to develop our rooks at the sides?
Apr-20-07  PhilFeeley: Carlsson's in an exciting game against Cheparinov. He's up a knight and rook against rook and two pawns. It should be an interesting endgame.
Apr-20-07  Robin01: Round 3 Results:

Ivan Cheparinov - Pontus Carlsson ½ - ½

Emil Hermansson - Tiger Hillarp Persson ½ - ½

Erwin l'Ami - Parimarjan Negi 1 - 0

Jonny Hector - Emanuel Berg 0 - 1

Vassilios Kotronias - Jan Timman ½ - ½

Apr-21-07  Shajmaty: No comments to the fourth round? Great attacking game by Berg. And Hillarp Persson - Hector still playin'!
Apr-21-07  Slotermeyer: Great 4th round! Chep-Hermansson 1-0 after a bad Berliner by the latter, resulting in Rook drop...Berg-Kotronias 1-0 (great attack yes!). Carlsson-Negi 1-0 with seconds left for Carlsson until move 40 (he had it all worked out). Tiger-Hector 1-0 after several hours...Hector always seems to play longer than the others, just as he did 25 years ago...Dutch derby ½-½ after not much work. Ubilava (Negi´s coach) managed to shut down the live transmission by accident, so we had to watch the resolution of Carlsson-Negi and Berg-Kotronias in the playing hall, but that was exciting!
Apr-21-07  Timex: Negi is an underdog. I though after a series of bad tournament results, this would be his time to shine.
Apr-21-07  Eti fan: I truly root for Cheparinov. I think Topalov's success is at least 50% his work. He is a fascinating kid and deserves first class chess. Fantastic performances at Essent Open and Morelia Open. When is he going to be independant?
Apr-22-07  Eti fan: Great games today, but I do not see any mention in major chess websites. Mig http://www.chessninja.com/dailydirt... has a good mention and http://reports.chessdom.com/sigeman... has a round 5 report, but it seems this is it. It is difficult to want sponsors in chess when having no coverage. Even worse, a 29 000 eur tournament got a preview http://previews.chessdom.com/benido... and no mention anywhere. I dont think sponsors will be happy with that. And the field seems great. Anyways, back to Sigeman. If tomorrow Cheparinov wins he will secure the title. However, I believe that Negi and Tiger will not give up that easy. I would say Berg Negi is the exciting game of tomorrow.
Apr-23-07  percyblakeney: All decisive games today. Hillarp Persson was pawn down, with an uncomfortable position and a minute for ten moves against L'Ami, but somehow won anyway.

Chnebelgrind: <I would say Berg Negi is the exciting game of tomorrow.> Really a visionary prediction!
Apr-24-07  nikiml: An interesting game between l'Ami and Cheparinov.
Apr-24-07  percyblakeney: Looks like Cheparinov will be extending his lead after today's round.
Apr-24-07  percyblakeney: Negi seemed to be winning for a while when he was two pawns up, but now it definitely looks drawish.
Apr-24-07  timhortons: to bad id bet all the way for timman, id lost all my chess bucks but anayways id still admire the man
Apr-24-07  percyblakeney: The negative surprise this far is L'Ami, clearly second ranked in the field but sharing seventh with two rounds to go.
Apr-25-07  luzhin: Chessgames, please can you post the sixth round game between Berg and Negi. It is a Najdorf of some theoretical significance.
Apr-25-07  PhilFeeley: Negi looks like he's in trouble this morning:

(Cheparinov-Negi)

White to move. It seems to me that something is just waiting to spring...

Apr-25-07  jhoro: Cheparinov is pressuring Negi early in the game. I hope he takes care of the young tiger today and tomorrow finishes a great tournament with the old one. though if he wins today tomorrow he'll most likely draw against Timman
