The 8th European Women's Team Championship was contested between 28 teams in the Sports Business Centre "Vojvodina" in Novi Sad, Serbia, 22-30 October 2009, as a 9-round Swiss System tournament. There was no rest day. Time control: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, 30 more minutes for the rest of the game, with 30 seconds added per move from move 1. Prize fund (Open and Women): 60,000 euros. Tournament director: Miroslav Kopanja. Chief arbiter: Sava Stoisavljevic. Number of games played: 504.

Russia (Kosteniuk, Tatiana Kosintseva, Nadezhda Kosintseva, Romanko, Gunina) (+8 =0 -1) won on tiebreak (board points) ahead of Georgia (+7 =2 -0), both with 16/18 match points. Ukraine was 3rd on tiebreak with 12/18.

Here we have Russia and Georgia tied in match points, so a lot will come down to the last match and whether Armenia can draw/beat Russia. Meanwhile, as for individuals Kosteniuk and N. Kosintseva lead the pack with roughly 2650 performances, whereas Sebag and Muzychuk are doing worse than expected.
