Nov-22-22  Ninas Husband: For the first time, the US Championship was held in sunny SoCal. I wonder if the Little Old Lady from Pasadena attended? :)

Sally Simpson: Walter Browne should have been playing in this event but the byline reads: 'Browne Walks Out' - https://uscf1-nyc1.aodhosting.com/C... (page414) and Walter did indeed walk out.

perfidious: The first kibitz noted that this was the first time the event was held in Southern California; before the mid 1970s, the site was always New York City, with the exception of 1948.

In Interzonal play, Browne, for all his success in US Championships, never came close to qualifying, twice finishing minus 2 and the other as bottom marker.
