Russian Championship Higher League (Women) (2019)

The 69th Russian Women's Championship Higher League tournament was a 9-round Swiss Open held in the Ring Premier Hotel in Yaroslavl from 27 June to 6 July 2019. The top five players in the tournament qualified for the 2019 Women's Russian Championship Superfinal. The time control was 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 minutes to the end of the game, with a 30-second increment from move one. No draw offers were allowed before move 40. The overall prize fund was 5 million roubles, or around 70,000 euros. (1) Tournament director: Alexander Tkachev. Chief arbiter: Alexey Moskvin.

Elena Tomilova, seeded 19th at 2289, won with 7.5/9. Shafigullina (2nd), Charochkina (3rd on tiebreak), Potapova (4th) and Shuvalova (5th on tiebreak) also went to the Russian Championship Superfinal (Women) (2019).

Jul-06-19  sonia91: Shafigullina and Tomilova qualified for the Women's Superfinal with a round to spare with 7/8, as they are 1.5 points above the closest followers, at 5.5/8. I suppose this is unprecedented.

Tomilova also qualified last year.

Similarly to the main section, also here the top seed, Bodnaruk, is out of contention for the top 5 spots.
