Weird and wonderful responses to 1.d4
Compiled by smalldreams
--*--

I love playing weird openings as black against 1.e4, but I haven't found very many equivalents for 1.d4 games. I've played the Englund with modest success but it's not as reliable. This collection is my attempt to locate a few other options.

SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED.

Mikenas defense with 2.d5
F Behrhorst vs Miles, 1982
(A40) Queen's Pawn Game, 23 moves, 0-1

Mikenas Defense with 2.d5
M Gerusel vs Miles, 1982
(A40) Queen's Pawn Game, 22 moves, 0-1

A short (!) Mikenas Lithuanian!
K Langeweg vs Miles, 1982
(A40) Queen's Pawn Game, 27 moves, 0-1

I've decided to call this "The Namsab Defense" ;)
A Whiteley vs M Basman, 1982
(A40) Queen's Pawn Game, 57 moves, 0-1

Namsab defense, questionable play by white.
M Steadman vs M Basman, 1985
(A40) Queen's Pawn Game, 26 moves, 0-1

Namsab defense - a "good" counterresponse by White?
C Laird vs M Basman, 1982
(A40) Queen's Pawn Game, 41 moves, 0-1

Namsab defense - White has no idea how to proceed.
S Conquest vs M Basman, 1981
(A40) Queen's Pawn Game, 26 moves, 0-1

The Polish defense in its most well-known appearance... fails
Petrosian vs Spassky, 1966
(A40) Queen's Pawn Game, 35 moves, 1-0
