  Richard Taylor: <Richard

What a great great post ! How can I do justice to it ? In short ,I can't, but what a lovely read. Thank you.

I'm glad you are well.

Your family history looks so colourful and exotic compared to mine ! I often look at lives in recent history and think , WOW, did they do all that ?? I've done nothing to ever compare...and I always feel humbled.

It is a shame you've never visited Blighty. Must say I'm surprised at this. The nearest we have to NZ here is in north Scotland, which is our Beautiful Country.. .. I say "our" but I'm seeing it geographically not politically.I think you should make the visit. So much to see and do.. but ofcourse that's your call...

I know where you're coming from re noise and music.. I can now only listen to music I'm in the mood for . Otherwise it's just irritating noise I don't need in my life.

Anyway this is evolving into a kinda penpal scenario in this cafe which my ego and vanity is screaming at me to shutdoooooon ! lol lol xx

So I'll leave it here loike.

Your family history would make a good novel btw ..

Regards

Deeply kind reply. Big Pawn, if he or what it is, might soon think we are a pair of "whoopsies"... I'm liberal but not that liberal... but thanks for your reply... You are right re my family except, prima facie, my life has been a bit pedestrian....I'm, these days not a great traveller...soon I will post a link to a post to a time when I was in my 'protest days' about 1969/70.

My son who was very depressed over all etc but has slowly got better, suddenly took a course in poetry and started writing, for all you poet heads I might publish some on here. As he was bullied really badly at school he doesn't trust authorities and is convinced of various conspiracies etc [there ARE conspiracies but the trouble is sorting out they why of them] -- nevertheless this act of now learning (because of the bullying he didn't go very far at school)... in any case we both go to poetry readings and there is a great and interesting range of local and (in normal times) international musicians of all kinds.

My son liked Michael Jackson and heavy metal and some rap etc Actually, years ago I used to go to "heavy rock" concerts -- I liked the density of the noise so to speak or sound.

One bloke have his first poetry reading -- he is a Lawyer in real life -- and his background music was 'The Sounds of Silence'....

I started watching the Singquefield Cup. Nonone will believe me but I played a game with Yasser Seirawan online ca. 2000 I think it was....He won, as did Ulf Anderson -- I was on 'standard' and the GMs were waiting to watch an International game, forget which one. I was on ICC. I asked Yasser: "Please tell me when I should resign.", he kept amused and said: "As long as you tell me when to resign."!

Such is life Dr Harry.

HeMateMe: was Charlie Watts a smoker? I'm trying to figure out how he has died before walking gin mill/pharmacies Keith Richards and Ron Wood. Woody has publicly admitted a habit of finishing off two liters of vodka before lunch each day, up until just a few years ago, plus 2-3 packs of cigarettes a day.

Keef is also a life long smoker, heavy boozer and a former heroin addict.

Makes me wonder if they'll tour again. Just seems wrong, somehow, to go out on the road as The Rolling Stones without Charlie, Bill Wyman, Nicky Hopkins, sax player Bobby Keyes and roadie/confidant Ian Stewart.

the extended Stones family has also lost Brian Jones and their first manager Andrew Loog Oldham, over the years. Maybe it's time to call it a day?

I predict the next Rolling Stone to pass away will be ex-lead guitarist Mick Taylor. He's not a tall guy, but seems to have ballooned to upwards around 260 pounds, just from eyeballing videotape. Excess weight when you're older is a very dangerous thing.

RIP, Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters and Little Richard. The Stones stole every lick they could from youz.

HeMateMe: Watts has an auto bio out, I'll have to see if my library has it at one of the branches. In it he mentions being addicted to heroin in the 1980s! I had no idea Watts had any problems like that, he seemed like such a country gentleman.

saffuna: I recommend watching the movie "One Plus One," recording sessions for "Sympathy for the Devil." Very revealing.

Skip over the non-Rolling Stones parts, pure avant-leftist dreck.

HeMateMe: is that the movie where the cameras go into the house the stones are renting in the south of france, where there's a recording studio in the basement? Maybe I'm thinking of another movie.

A lot of great songs came out of that era, written when the Stones were 'tax exiles' in the south of france but Jagger later said that almost all of that material recorded in that rented house had to be redone at a studio in Los Angeles, that the material done in France was inferior, couldn't be pressed to vinyl.

saffuna: No. This was in 1968, in London. Brian Jones was there, though not too involved. The line "who killed Kennedy?" was changed to "Who killed the Kennedys?" so it must have been at least in the summer.

  HeMateMe: champions league participants named:

<https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/so...>

England has four clubs, including Man U, Man City, Chelsea and Leeds.

Russia has one team invited. Turkey has one (is Turkey really a part of Europe?) the debate rages on...Ukraine has one team invited, the Kiev group.

no one wants Turkey in the EU and I bet our british friends don't want them in the Champions tournament either. Well, Turkey is no threat to win so it's probably all academic anyway.
