GrahamClayton: Black opens up the position prematurely with 6...d5, and White gains a spatial advantage after 11.b4 & 12.a4.

plang: 6..d5 was a specialty of Marshalls and this was the only game he lost with it. It is just barely mentioned in my book on the Four Knights. 9..Qd8 is an alternative. 16 g4! was very nice avoiding Marshall's trap 16 Qxe5..Bxd3 17 Bxd3..Qxd3 18 Qxe7..Bxf2+!. Also inferior would have been 20 Rxg4..Qh5 21 Ba3..Bxf2!. Nice game by Sterk.
