Sep-29-09  antharis: 26... f5?? I wonder what has happend at this moment to Horwitz, loosing simply a minor piece for nothing. Perhaps he was bored and dont want to play any further? :)
Oct-29-16  Aunt Jemima: Agreed. 26...f5 was a horrible move. Horwitz can't even blame time pressure.
Nov-07-16  Aunt Jemima: I've wasted too much time following the games of Horwitz. I aren't going to get bogged down with his mediocrity any longer.

perfidious: <moronovich> We may now style that poster <sybil>.

How <dare> this top nineteenth century player blunder in a fashion that might annoy someone who would play through this game, many years on? The <nerve> of the man!

Right ;)

But mediocracy seems to attract mediocracy...Otherwise Doughnut Dump wouldn´t stand a chance.

Nov-09-16  Aunt Jemima: What an aggressive, angry bunch of nerds. Look, Horwitz can't be one of the top players of the 1800s. It's just that we have his games. He really sucks almost all of the time. Bad chess. I love the old masters in general. It's just that Horwitz really does suck. Class B player I would guess.

Others were really great like la Bourdonnais, Staunton, Anderson, boncourt, harrwitz, morphy, Paulson, Barnes, captain Evans, McDonnell

perfidious: Horwitz a 'Class B player'?

Classic; I rather doubt even Nunn, for all his slagging of early masters' abilities, would go quite so far as this.
