Aug-24-04 | | acirce: You must mean Rolling Stones. |
Aug-24-04 | | kevin86: "Good-Bye Ruby Tuesday". I believe both the fab four and the stones sang the song to a hit. It does look like a Dutch-it is so hard to classify openings, because they transpose so easily. |

 | | Chessical: The Beatles never sang any Rolling Stone's song, and it's a Dutch. |
Aug-24-04 | | sneaky pete: <KampongBoy> Are you a Javaanse Jongen? |
Aug-24-04 | | DanielBryant: Ruby Tuesday's is also an American restaurant chain. |
Aug-24-04 | | themindset: yes, although the first move appears as english, this clearly transposes into a dutch. |
Aug-24-04 | | Zenchess: Speaking of rock music terminology, we could call Hruby a one-hit wonder because of all the wonderful games he played in 1882 and none thereafter. <An Englishman> I would have picked Petrosian because of the exchange sac or Rubinstein because of his handling of the two B's. |
Aug-24-04
 | | Benzol: The Rolling Stones did sing a Beatles song - 'I Wanna Be Your Man'. |
Aug-24-04 | | square dance: 'i wanna be your man' was actually the song that got the rolling stones rolling, err going. so not only are the beatles the greatest band ever they helped open the door for probably the next greatest band ever. |
Aug-24-04 | | SBC: <square dance>
I had always thought that "Not Fade Away", first recored by Buddy Holly, had the honor of first putting the Rolling Stones on the charts. |
Aug-24-04 | | KampongBoy: Hi <sneaky peak> No, but love Lat's work. Notice fewer comments on the game than on music! |
Aug-25-04 | | square dance: <sbc> 'i wanna be your man' was released nov. 1st 1963 and went to #12 on the charts. 'not fade away' was released sometime during, or following oct. 1964. check out these links...http://www.keno.org/stones_lyrics/i... http://www.rockonthenet.com/artists... |

you're definitely correct (I had figured you were). I just learned, from that second link, that the Stones first toured with the Everly Brothers and Bo Diddley. How cool is that! I also learned that Mick Jagger was exactly double my age last year. Thanks for the links and for rectifying my misconception. |
Aug-25-04 | | checkpat: Thanks for educating me in pop
music. I could pretend I am too young to know but that would be
a white lie... |

 | | Phony Benoni: This game was played on May 23, 1882, which was a Tuesday. It was first used as GOTD on August 24, 2004, which was a Tuesday. Something is not right.. No one writes songs about Thursdays. |
Mar-01-18 | | zanzibar: <Phony> you sure about that? https://www.google.com/search?q=son... |

Mar-01-18 | | dumbgai: Ruby Tuesday is a bad restaurant chain. |
Mar-01-18 | | morfishine: Ruby Tuesday Inc. is a multinational food service retailer that owns, operates, and franchises Ruby Tuesday restaurants. The concept was started in 1972 by Samuel E. (Sandy) Beall, III. ...and all of this has nothing to do with chess, this chess game, this chess opening, the chess venue, the chess event, this chess location, the chess pieces, any chess magazine, either chess player, any chess literature, any chess club, any chess web site, any chess set, any chess rules book, any chess tournament or anything at all related to chess so we may quietly and confidently place this miserable failed game title alongside the curb for the Friday morning trash pick up ***** |
Mar-01-18 | | ChessHigherCat: The rotgut restaurant chain must have been named after the eponymous Stones' song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qhe... which must have be named after some juicy if melancholy groupie. As to the game, I have to agree it sucks. Black should have played 17. Bd4 and the white knight is out of play on the rim for nothing. The worst blunder was 21. Nb7?? instead of just playing g6. |

 | | offramp: I first came to know the song Ruby Tuesday when I was living in a tent in Villeneuve-Loubet in France with various justice-evaders and one mix-tape which included the song. Eventually our antics in the local supermarkets, which we nicknamed <Fleischklauen>, necessitated a move to Cannes. As we left the town together we sang "Goodbye Villeneuve-Loubet". |
Mar-02-18 | | ChessHigherCat: You escape zee Justice de justesse, yes? |

 | | offramp: <ChessHigherCat: You escape zee Justice de justesse, yes?> Yes. I was pure as snow. I never klauened nuffink. Not even a pea. Cannes was nicer anyway. Nicer than Nice. |

Nicer than Nice.>
I would say "but not cannier than Cannes", but I've had a complex about that word ever since I had an interview for a scholarship to study in Germany and they asked me why I hadn't accepted some other scholarship I had been offered that year and when I said "I thought it would prejudice my chances for your scholarship," this one guy shouted "Canny!" and everybody snickered. |
