eternaloptimist: LOL, what a marathon! Duras could have given up a lot sooner than he did. Phony Benoni: "This was played the day after Duras missed a mate in three during this game: Duras vs Olland, 1907. Maybe he was just punishing himself for that slip." LOL! :D
Jan-19-09  WhiteRook48: wow. One can only imagine why Duras played this to the end.
Jan-28-09  WhiteRook48: why did Duras play on after move 165 was he trying to be annoying?
Jan-31-09  WhiteRook48: why did Duras give up the e5 pawn?
Feb-01-09  WhiteRook48: maybe he wanted to give himself a target to play against

Phony Benoni: The game dragged on for 168 moves only because Wolf missed a simple mate-in-two with 166.Qb6+ and 167.Qca6#. Can't imagine why. He certainly had enough adjournments to figure it out.

LOL! That is a good one!

Mar-12-20  razetime: Apparently at moves 50 60 and 63 the same moves were played an a draw was claimable by threefold repetition LMAO

As is often remarked in these pages, the threefold repetition rule was not always what it is today. In Germany at that time, I believe a threefold repetition of the entire sequence of moves was required, not only the position.

FSR: Duras didn't think Wolf could squeeze out a win with two queens versus lone king?
