kingscrusher: Does anyone know how to improve significantly on this game and "beat Kasparov in the Evans Gambit" which is the subject of the following very popular youtube chess video:

keypusher: <Kingscrusher> The fashionable thing in this line is to let White regain the pawn with 8....d6 Qxg7 Bf6. But even then it isn't necessarily smooth sailing for Black:

Short vs I Sokolov, 2007

Jan-13-08  capatal: An Evans gambit miniature vs. the current World Champ, is always worthy of review.
Aug-24-08  sallom89: what a spectacular game! <Woody Wood Pusher> would like to see it.
Aug-27-08  PAWNTOEFOUR: after a million nodes.........crafty comes up with this....pv 25...Qd7 26.Bb5 Qxb5 27.Qxe6+ Kg7 28.Nd5 Re8 29.Qxe8 Qxd5 30.Rac1 Rg8 31.Rc7+ Kh8 32.Qf7 Qxf7 33.Rxf7 b5 34.Rxa7 +143 Crafty
Mar-24-10  thegoodanarchist: The spirit of Tal must have been delighted to see the Evans Gambit in his memorial tournament.
Jun-29-10  lopezexchange: penarol,

the first mistake Anand did in this game was 14...Nd7. If instead 14...Na4; 15.Bh6,f6; 16.exd6,Bxd6; 17.Bf4,0-0; 18.Bxd6,cxd6; 19.Rxd6,Qc7; black gets a slight edge.

Aug-10-10  hstevens129: evans gambits are cool. don't see them too much anymore. more of an anderssen thing.

HeMateMe: "Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again". A Bob Dylan song from the mid 60s.

But what does it have to do with the chess game here? Blacks King is 'stuck', against white's 'mobile' pieces, maybe?

I think the guy at ChessGamesdotcom that does these puns might have smoked a bit of what Willie Nelson smokes (back in the day, of course....).

Aug-10-10  whiteshark: <He#me> Close enough, me thinks. Good one.
Aug-10-10  culei: I can't believe this game at the beggining
I taught that anand was much better but then
10 qh4 was amaizing really took the initiative.
Go garry well I would like to see today a wc match between Them I think kaspy even now has a couple of tricks
On his sleeve to make the wc cru$ble but anand
Has shown good performance even with kramnick
Who is kasparovs slayer but well we have no chance to know
Aug-10-10  Once: Oh, the ragman draws circles
Up and down the block.
I'd ask him what the matter was
But I know that he don't talk.
And the ladies treat me kindly
And furnish me with tape,
But deep inside my heart
I know I can't escape.
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end,
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again.

Well, Shakespeare, he's in the alley
With his pointed shoes and his bells,
Speaking to some French girl,
Who says she knows me well.
And I would send a message
To find out if she's talked,
But the post office has been stolen
And the mailbox is locked.
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end,
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again.

Mona tried to tell me
To stay away from the train line.
She said that all the railroad men
Just drink up your blood like wine.
An' I said, "Oh, I didn't know that,
But then again, there's only one I've met
An' he just smoked my eyelids
An' punched my cigarette."
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end,
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again.

Grandpa died last week
And now he's buried in the rocks,
But everybody still talks about
How badly they were shocked.
But me, I expected it to happen,
I knew he'd lost control
When he built a fire on Main Street
And shot it full of holes.
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end,
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again.

Now the senator came down here
Showing ev'ryone his gun,
Handing out free tickets
To the wedding of his son.
An' me, I nearly got busted
An' wouldn't it be my luck
To get caught without a ticket
And be discovered beneath a truck.
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end,
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again.

Now the preacher looked so baffled
When I asked him why he dressed
With twenty pounds of headlines
Stapled to his chest.
But he cursed me when I proved it to him,
Then I whispered, "Not even you can hide.
You see, you're just like me,
I hope you're satisfied."
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end,
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again.

Now the rainman gave me two cures,
Then he said, "Jump right in."
The one was Texas medicine,
The other was just railroad gin.
An' like a fool I mixed them
An' it strangled up my mind,
An' now people just get uglier
An' I have no sense of time.
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end,
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again.

When Ruthie says come see her
In her honky-tonk lagoon,
Where I can watch her waltz for free
'Neath her Panamanian moon.
An' I say, "Aw come on now,
You must know about my debutante."
An' she says, "Your debutante just knows what you need But I know what you want."
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end,
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again.

Now the bricks lay on Grand Street
Where the neon madmen climb.
They all fall there so perfectly,
It all seems so well timed.
An' here I sit so patiently
Waiting to find out what price
You have to pay to get out of
Going through all these things twice.
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end,
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues again.

Aug-10-10  TheRavenPK: <Once> First I thought that you composed the lyric on your own.. I was amazed how fast you did it :D

but then google told me the truth.. You are a pirate ! :D

Aug-10-10  Once: <TheRavenPK> Guilty as charged!

There is no way that I could have written this. Way way above my pay grade.

Mind you, I have no idea what any of it means...

Aug-10-10  gus inn: <Once> Thanks for the lyrics. These were the times.
Aug-10-10  WhiteRook48: eh that's... interesting
Aug-10-10  screwdriver: I think Anand should've played on. I saw crafty's analysis above by PawnToFour and it seems like black should've played somewhat longer. Why resign?
Aug-10-10  kevin86: The bishop at e6 is about to face much pressure!
Aug-10-10  Lil Swine: how corny
Aug-10-10  Ferro: ALEKHINE
Aug-10-10  bengalcat47: <thegoodanarchist> "The spirit of Tal must have been delighted to see the Evans Gambit in his memorial tournament." I think that Morphy would also have enjoyed this game!
Aug-10-10  drnooo: these chessmen are no clues
and this dope's as bad as the booze
I want to drive
but all I have are worn down shoes
and try to feel alive
around this zombie crew
o mama can this really be the end
to be stuck inside of Mobile
with the Memphis blues again
Aug-10-10  drnooo: a little ditty done for the occasion
of the occasion
in the spirit of the bayonet
Aug-10-10  drnooo: also dont forget Fischer was much more
impressed with people who could write
songs than with mere chessplaying ability....if we can go by his comments in that notorious Phillipine interview when he was playing records
and disc jockeying or was it dis- joking?
Aug-10-10  Ferro: CHIGORIN
