Dec-06-04  Knight13: 28. dxe6 Rxg5 29. Rf8+ Rxf8 30. exf8+ Qd8 31. Qxd8+ Kxd8 and White is a bishop up. Still, I like the 28. Bxg8 idea better. A rook is much better than a knight. 36. Rc5+ Kb6 37. b4 or a4 is still a win for White. Good game!
Dec-26-04  sneaky pete: 28.dxe7? Rxg5 29.Rf8+ Qe8 would throw away his advantage. After 28.Bxg8 Rxg8 however he should have played 29.dxe7 Rxg5 28.Rf8+ .. etc winning a full rook.

An Englishman: Good Morning: 5...h5?! was called the Long Whip Variation when I was growing up--and that's exactly what Bird receives, one long whipping.
Aug-09-06  sneaky pete: The <alternate score> has the wittier (and stronger) final move that was actually played: 36.K. to K.B's 4th. A nod is as good as a wink to a blind Bird.
Nov-03-16  Aunt Jemima: Horwitz finally plays a good game. Starting with the nice move 16. Nd5 white conducted the attack efficiently. Bird was creative when he played 25...d5 allowing black to castle on the next move by white followed up strongly with d6!.

Bravo Mr. Horwirz. Too bad he couldn't play like this all the time.

Aug-19-17  WorstPlayerEver: The word is that Bird could have equalized with 10... Be6 (novelty).
