You mean <birds> were attacking Steinitz's King very well.

Jun-14-05  Knight13: The flying White Knights are beautiful! (whipshering) Powerful...
Jun-23-05  ArturoRivera: wow!!!, look at those knights!!!
Jul-20-05  who: Why did Steinitz resign here?
Jul-20-05  ConspTheory06: Well i think he resigned here for 2 reasons...1)He's down position and 2)He's down material!
Jul-20-05  sneaky pete: <who> Maybe he came to his senses. He could have resigned 6 moves earlier.
Jul-20-05  OJC: Steinitz often resigned losing games rather late, only conceding when the position would be completely hopeless.

There are several examples in the matches with Lasker.

I don't think he was known as a great swindler like Marshall, however.

Jul-20-05  Boomie: Mommy, why do they do it? The birds?

Ah, if knights could fly...Look out below!

Jun-13-06  OJC: Steinitz was cramped but OK until 20. ...g5 which just throws away his knight.

  LIFE Master AJ: Hmmmm.

I played "Guess-The-Move" here for the very first time. I scored close to 40 points, the "par" was 33.

I found it a lot tougher than I imagined. It was hard to predict their moves.

Sep-08-08  penguin496: Is Steinits winning after 19. ..G5?

He is up a pawn. why not get them moving? And this stops 20.Bf4

Jan-24-09  WhiteRook48: I think White has a strong attack anyway
Mar-10-09  WhiteRook48: knights can crash Steinitz!

GrahamClayton: The White Knight's "waltz" on moves 11-15 and 23-27 are very amusing.

naresb: Nice example of Knight pair harassing Queen easily, don't move the Queen out in early part of the game, vary basic of the game, many games underline this basic concept.
