May-07-05 | | aw1988: I'm suprised that there's no kibitzing on this one; Steinitz plays his favorite attack in the Scotch and gains a crushing win over Blackburne. |
Aug-19-08 | | micahtuhy: Yes, this game was a favorite of Lasker's and he lectured on it frequently. It is singled out in Garry Kasparov's My Great Predecessors as a game which shows the beginnings of modern chess and raising the levels of defense. |
Jul-08-09 | | totololo: Compare this game with Chigorin's games and see the difference between a clear positional defence - spotless ( Steinitz ) and the tactical motifs of the position ( Chigorin) . It is a wonderfull lesson on treatment of the same position.... By the way, I like how Kaspy is making money on his predecessors.... chess oil from the dinosaurus rex....

 | | LIFE Master AJ: Excellent game - I believe its annotated in the excellent book: "MY GREAT PREDECESSOR'S" (Part I)
by Garry Kasparov. |
Jan-27-12 | | Nemesistic: Gizmo, i asked GM Polgar earlier if a 53yr old 2200 rated player has any realistic chances of making GM, and she said only if you win the WSC (World senior champ) and you'll automatically recieve the GM title you yearn to brag about having to everyone!! So forget entering the "Choccy Milk Open" and playing 1600 rated players from now on, you must win a worldwide competition against better players than you, whom are also well over 55yr old! Whats next in the turbulent life of Life Master Andrew James Goldsby The First?? |
Jan-27-12 | | Colonel Mortimer: and the last. |

Jan-27-12 | | Nemesistic: Lets hope... * crosses fingers *

Two of this site's biggest losers. |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: And it must be jealousy that drives you ... prove me wrong by breaking the habit ... and finding a new hobby. ... ... ... continue to stalk me, and I will rightly assume that I am correct. |

... ... ... continue to stalk me, and I will rightly assume that I am correct.>You will assume that anyway. rightly or not - you don't know the difference. |
Jan-27-12 | | Nemesistic: Thankly im neither of the above, so you must be thanking me for stopping you wasting your time by still aspiring to become a GM? Seriously Gizmo, quit chess for good and then find yourself a job and a woman.. And thats my advice to you :D |
Jan-27-12 | | JoergWalter: <GIZMO>
We troopers are here to help.
However, your chess cannot be improved and nobody can give you a job matching your abilities. So, happy <GIZMO> - marry. Marry rich. http://www.wikihow.com/Find-a-Rich-... |

 | | LIFE Master AJ: Just one more thing, Nemesistic IS Mark Finan. (Your IP matches your old account, and the admins here have already confirmed this fact, albeit indirectly.) Why he continues to lie about it is simply beyond me. Time to "fess up," and stop being such a liar ... although you may be pathological and incaple of telling the truth .. ... ... |
Jan-27-12 | | King Death: <Nemesistic> At that Susan Polgar was being generous because in a field of GMs over 11 rounds, there's no way a player rated 2200 USCF wins once in 100 tries. If the event were cut to 6 or 7 rounds somebody could sneak through and catch a couple of breaks while the big boys beat up on each other, but in 11 rounds the laws of probability catch up. Not a chance in hell a player like <AJ> or me wins this. |
Jan-27-12 | | TheFocus: <(Your IP matches your old account, and the admins here have already confirmed this fact, albeit indirectly.)> <AJ> is lying here. There is no way the Admins are going to tell him this. You are a liar calling someone else a liar.
Two bit hypocrite. |
Jan-27-12 | | Petrosianic: <aw1988>: <I'm suprised that there's no kibitzing on this one; Steinitz plays his favorite attack in the Scotch and gains a crushing win over Blackburne.> That's funny, and typical, for someone to complain the lack of kibitzing in a game, and then fail to offer any himself, except telling us things you can see on the scoresheet, like who won the game, or the name of the opening. Vacuous kibitzing is worse than none at all. (You can include this kibitz in that if you like, so long as you comprehend the point). |
Jan-27-12 | | King Death: < Petrosianic: ...Vacuous kibitzing is worse than none at all. (You can include this kibitz in that if you like, so long as you comprehend the point)...> That's true except that there are some folks out there that can't comprehend the point you're making and have to babble on about nothing to prove they're alive. The Internet is a perfect refuge for them. |
Jan-27-12 | | Colonel Mortimer: <have to babble on about nothing to prove they're alive. The Internet is a perfect refuge for them.> lol |
Jan-27-12 | | Nemesistic: So my IP matches "Mark Finans" old account, and the administrators told you this ? Is that right AJ ? Well i'll email the site administrators myself and ask them if they divulged this false information to a retard like yourself, and once they rightly deny giving you this false information i'll make a complaint against you for constantly being thick and paranoid and spamming this site with your crappy video's that maybe 20 people WORLDWIDE watch...... whilst sporting a camp beard ! And me a liar who's incapable of telling the truth ?? Oh AJ, you've opened a door you really should have kept locked when it comes to lying, you're a known @#$%*&!#ter and i don't think anyone at this site would disagree.. Anyone ????? So when i have time i shall go through your old arguments here, and find some lies you told, then i'll mock you for them for weeks.. The truth will haunt your lying soul AJ..;) |

Jan-28-12 | | JoergWalter: I think the US will introduce a new way to execute death penalty.
Besides the electric chair and lethal injection there is some serious testing what fatal effect 2 hours of <LMAJ>'s chess videos have on the viewer. |
Feb-15-12 | | whiteshark: We quit following laws. Didn't you get the memo? |
May-25-12 | | Llawdogg: Blackburne was doing fine until around moves fifteen through twenty when he seemed to lose his way. 15 Qe2 may not have been as good as Bxc6. 18 g4 weakened his king when there was play on the queenside with c4. And 19 Nxd6? was a sacrifice that didn't lead to anything but a loss. Maybe 19 h3 would have been safer. But great game by Steinitz. What a beast! |
Aug-24-15 | | saturn2: In a comment by Lasker on this game he notes that white sould have played 13. Re1 and black has to play 13...Qd6, because otherwise after 14 Rxe7 the black Nc6 and the pawn d7 are pinned. Anyway I like black's moves 22-24 as they are cold blooded defence moves. |
Sep-03-20 | | Cadwalla: 16.♘d5 would have given White the better game. |
