Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-14-04  kostich in time: I own acopy of Kmoch's excellent tournament book of Bled 1931 ( unfortunatly, its now in storage) this is one of the truly great chess battles. Im surprised nobody has commented on it before. Stoltz' attack seems overwhelming..in fact Id guess that most players would think white had awon game, judging from the position on move 17..but then comes Colles tremendous counter attack...Tartakover and Dumont call this a contest between two dare-devils.
May-21-08  ToTheDeath: Heroic defense by Colle.

That said, 25.Rd1! bxc5 26. Rhe1 d6 27.Nxe6+ would have given White a decisive advantage.

21. c4!? Bxc4 22.Qc3 d6 23. Rxg4 Rxf2 24. h5 is also very dangerous for Black.

May-14-10  elohah: Notes:

If 12...bc 13 e6! (at once) de 14 Qe3,
and Black's position is busted. For he faces R(on d1), moves Bb5 and Qxc5.

13 ? MUCH better than 13 Bg5? is
13 Rdg1! This move just WINS, and Black can practically resign after it. White will play g4! next, and Black
will resign.

Sep-06-17  sea7kenp: I actually don't like White's 4th Move. Isn't d4 more usual for White's 4th move than c5? (Nothing like Doubled Queen Bishop Pawns to hinder your Queenside Pawn Structure). However, White's quick development was good...

Incidentally, the Position after Black's 24th move features prominently in Chapter 13 of the "Chess traps, Pitfalls & Swindles" book, and is what prompted me to look for this Game.
