Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-01-08  jerseybob: An incredibly hard-fought game! Playing it over you can't help but root for Boleslavsky, and he comes through in a big way.
Jun-29-10  Benzol: I didn't think that Boleslavsky had ever beaten Botvinnik so this game comes as a pleasant surprise.
Sep-06-10  jerseybob: This was the one and only that I know of. If Boleslavsky had won the 1950 Candidates instead of Bronstein and faced Botvinnik for the title in 1951, he would have been a huge underdog. But Boleslavsky is one of my favorite players; his best attacks are things of beauty.

perfidious: This was a training game.

Botvinnik's pawn sacrifice was to become the standard way to play this line, though in other games the move order was 1....c4 2.bxc4 b4.

Sep-14-10  jerseybob: Perfidious: Did black miss a win or at least stronger play at any point?

keypusher: Botvinnik later implemented Boleslavsky's b2-b3 and a2-a4 plan in a King's Indian in Botvinnik vs Tal, 1961.
