Kibitzer's Corner
May-22-05  WMD: Fischer was in great form during his Philippines trip in 1967, but here he fails to punish Balinas for 13.Kd2, which traps in the f4 bishop. With either 13...f5 or ...g5, White must give up a piece.
May-11-10  Eduardo Leon: WMD: The d6 pawn was under attack, so 13...0-0-0 was correct.
May-11-10  dunkenchess: Rosendo Bandal, Jr is not Rosendo Balinas. But Fischer played with them.

Atty. Balinas had long been gone while Atty. Bandal is the presiding judge in Dumaguete City, Negros Occidental, Philippines.

Jul-05-11  newzild: <Eduardo Leon: WMD: the d6 pawn was under attack, so 13...0-0-0 was correct>

I don't understand. Surely after 13...g5 14. Bg3 f5 15. Nxd6+ Bxd6 16. Bxd6 Rd8 Black pins the bishop?

Jun-10-13  Zugzwangovich: This game is an exception to Seirawan's postulation that any time you're threatened with mate in the opening it means something has gone terribly wrong.
