Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-16-11  wordfunph: from Dumaguete City Philippines, he tallied +3=2-8 in 1968 Lugano Olympiad.
Mar-26-12  wordfunph: inspiring statement by NM Rosendo Bandal particularly the last half. Lifted from Bobby Ang's Inside Philippine Chess Book Two..

"My father loved chess so much that even when he was already old and no longer active in competitions, he could always be seen replaying games from chess books. My brothers and I were lazy reading chess books. We gained strength in actual combat with each other and against strong opponents. When he sees that some lads were interested in chess, he would share his chess books and let them eat lunch and supper with us in the house. My mom and my siblings did not mind complete strangers eating with us. We only felt upset when they do not use serving spoons because we were very particular about it. My dad finds no offense. To him what counts is that these people are devotees to chess."

- NM Rosendo Bandal Jr.

May-20-12  asianwarrior: One nice thing about the Olympics is the chance to[lay against chess greats like Radulov. Byrne and Geller. It would be a lifetime souvenir.
