Oct-18-02  Danilomagalhaes: Great game played by my favorite chess player!!
May-18-04  elric: Can someone explain why Tartakower played 5-- h5, and then 6--h4? I know it initially threatens the white Queen. Is it to protect this pawn should white manage to play Qxg7 at some time ?

nasmichael: The ideas in the old games are the cause of such great chess programs today. I show this to my students--and hope they can catch the same spirit as their chessic ancestors to play, to win, and enjoy the challenge.
Dec-06-05  suenteus po 147: I'm not clear on something: Is 24.Rxc8+ better than 24.Rxa2 because it avoids black's 24...Qc3+? Also, I love how Tartakower's play renders the white queen useless for much of the game, while his own king's rook sits unused for the whole. A fair trade, I'd say :)
Jan-18-06  rover: 24.Rxa2? Qxc3+ 25.Kb1 Qxd3+ wins the other bishop on e3. c4 and b3 were just bad moves though white had some problems. For example 24.Bd3 Qb6 is inconvenient but 24.Bd2 looks perfectly fine for me.

After 5...c5 6. Nf3 cxd4 7. Nxd4 Nxe5 8.
Qg3 Ng6 9. Ndb5 Na6 10. h4 White has compensation for the pawn sacrifice. The point of 5...h5 & 6...h4 is to make it impossible for the White queen to drop back to g3.
