May-20-03  massive designer: Nice trap ... white will lose the queen if he tried to take the Knight !!

Sneaky: Wow that is SNEAKY. What I love is that White had lots of opportunities to go wrong. In addition to 6.g3? there is also 6.Nf3, 6.e3, and even 6.b4 ... all look like attractive moves but they lose to the same tactical sequence 6... Nxf2 7. Kxf2 Bg3+ and finally 8...Qxd1
May-25-03  Bears092: 2 things:

1 - e3 doesn't lose, since it gives the king e2 to run to and protect his lady. 2 - I play 5. Nf3 to avoid all this mess.

May-09-04  Sadgrinner: Bears092:

Moving the king to the e2 square in this position is actually worse than killing the knight. If Black captures with his knight, you can't get *any* compensation b/c the queen controls the 'd' file.

May-09-04  Lawrence: Hi <Sadgrinner>, may I be the first to welcome you to this site, hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Jul-18-04  uzeromay: This is the Fajarowicz variation of the Budapest. Sadgrinner appears to be correct. 6. e3 Nxf2 7. Kxf2 Qh4+ 8. Ke2 is how the game might proceed...
Aug-31-05  DanRoss53: <uzeromay> All kinds of fun lines can come out of that... such as 8... ♗g4+ 9. ♘f3 ♘c6 10. ♔d2 O-O-O 11. ♘xh4 ♗b4+ 12. ♔c2 ♗xd1#
Mar-27-06  Necessary Truths: 6. e3 Nxf2 7. Kxf2 Bg3+! 8. Ke2 Bg4+ 9. Nf3 Bxf3+ wins the queen. So I don't see how you can say that 6. e3 really changes anything.
Mar-27-06  Resignation Trap: There is a similar trap in the Tennyson Gambit that I've caught a few opponents in while playing blitz: 1.Nf3 d5 2.e4 dxe4 3.Ng5 Nf6 4.d3 exd3 5.Bxd3 h6? 6.Nxf7 Kxf7 7.Bg6+ .
Apr-16-06  SJP: Necessary Truths:
what happens after 10. gxf3?
Feb-04-08  just a kid: What a shot in the head to Warren!
Apr-22-12  RookFile: White already has problems after 5. exd6. That all by itself is a bad move that is non-developing, while at the same time developing black's bishop to d6. 5. Nf3 avoids problems.

FSR: Was Warren Selman's personal punching bag? See also Warren vs Selman, 1930.
Jan-07-15  Kingcastle: I didnt understrand this pl explain.10 bucks to whoever explains the followup.
Jan-07-15  disasterion: <Kingcastle> If white takes the knight on f2, black plays 7... Bxg3+ followed by 8... Qxd1
Dec-05-16  Davesy: Why is this game remarkable? It can follow: 7.Qd5

And eventually knight takes the rook and the queen takes the knight, and white will end up only two points behind. So unlike the comment above saying if "white will lose the queen if he tried to take the Knight !!", white CAN take knight and not lose queen, except not on that particular move. Overall hardly remarkable or interesting game.
