Domdaniel: After all those wild 19th century games, maybe it was a mistake for NN to try the internet.
Jun-06-10  WhiteRook48: 30...Nf6
Jul-04-10  Whitehat1963: Ouch! Like fireworks!
Jan-11-11  Whitehat1963: Excellent Fridayish puzzle after 26...Nxc2.
Jan-11-11  Dr. J: Perhaps not. 28...Nh6 (or even ...Nf6) appears to refute.
Dec-01-11  erniecohen: Another crappy game not worthy of the database.

How about some kind of a filter where an engine evaluates the game, and for games not of historical interest, the filter just throws it out if both players play the game at a level below, say, 1800?

Dec-01-11  Shams: <erniecohen> You raise an interesting point-- how good are engines at rating players? If you gave ten amateur games to a GM and to Crafty, asking each to play over the games and estimate the ELO of each player, I wonder how closely the estimated ratings would correspond?

FSR: This Kentucky Gambit is strong like bull. I shall have to start playing it at every opportunity.
Jun-11-12  haydn20: 6...Kg6 is a rancid move, to state the obvious. Either Kf8 or Ke6 and White has to struggle to draw.
Dec-18-12  mike1: This gambit is not too different to the Gambit in the Russian (Petroff). 1 e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Nxe5 d6. 4.Nxf7
and this is still played regularly.
Dec-18-12  YoungEd: Resignation was not premature.
Nov-04-18  newzild: <mike1> Yes, that knight sacrifice is known as Cochrane's Gambit, and it is my standard line against the Petroff.

It is very difficult to refute, especially in blitz or rapid, unless Black is well-versed in the line 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Nxe5 d6 4. Nxf7 Kxf7 5. d4 c5!

FSR: The engines really like 6...Ke6! and now 7.f4 d6 or 7.Qf5+ Kd6. White is dead lost.
Dec-21-19  gambitfan: Who are the players ?

It should be C50 Italian Game and not C51 Evans Gambit.

The game is very poor.

This game should be removed from chessgames.com's data bank.

Frankophile: Correct is 8.--b6 or 8. -- Nf6 when Stockfish rates the position -2.00. This is a ridiculous opening. If it had the remotest chance of working against moderately competent defense, chess would be dead.

Knighthawkmiller: Besides the obvious title "White Wins", 21.Rxd8+ then Bxf8; already at a 3 pawn advantage with other threats. The opening may be practical in that game called Blitz, (looks something like chess, but faster).
