Apr-27-10 | | DWAustin: The behavior before and during the tournament is unfortunate and stereotypical of this planet.Winning won't make anyone superior as a person,a people or a culture. It just makes a champion for now. All things change, the center does not hold. |

 | | Open Defence: brilliant analysis from <Mateo> I learn a lot from you Sir! |
Apr-27-10 | | DWAustin: Thank you sir!I love watching the games.I can't wait for Round 2. |

 | | tamar: "It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood, A beautiful day for a handshake, Would you take mine? Could you take mine?" |
Apr-27-10
 | | chancho: Poor Topa... no handshakes, no draw offers, and he gets black tomorrow... };^) Muahahahahahaah! |
Apr-27-10 | | rossvassilev: Topalov's attacks (if you can even call them that) were quite toothless. Looks good for Anand the rest of the way. |
Apr-27-10 | | Berzha: Yah, of course. |
Apr-27-10
 | | HeMateMe: <majnu108> I like your avatar. Is it Juan Epstein from "Welcome Back kotter"? |
Apr-27-10 | | Berzha: i don't get it |
Apr-27-10 | | technical draw: After seeing and hearing of all the attitudes and unsportsmanlike conduct in this match I am quitting chess forever. No more. I will not participate in a game where the world sees this type of behavior and thinks that all chess players are the same. Therefore I will....what? a Ruy Lopez Exchange tournament? Count me in!! |
Apr-27-10 | | LucB: <Technical draw> LOL! You and <chancho> just crack me up! |
Apr-27-10 | | SirChrislov: Holy madres! Nigel Short kibitz here! |
Apr-27-10 | | kooley782: Hey all
Click here for my analysis of this game on my website: http://edsnotofthisworld.wordpress.... |
Apr-27-10 | | rafnoc22: as predict yerterday,, round three is the most important round''' if TOPO cant win this round... he will not win the Championships.... Its still Anand.. we will wait for his future posible opponent... WESLY SO of the Republic of the Philippines... |
Apr-28-10 | | iamsheaf: The ending is just too funny, both sides kept repeating forever. 41.Ke3, 43.Ke3 and 45. Ke3 is repetition, so is 41..Ra3+,43..Ra3+ and 45..Ra3+ as well as 42.Kf2 , 44.Kf2 and 46.Kf2. I am actually amused if arbiter wasn't around they could easily have played till move 60 repeating the moves. Really, stupid rule not talking during the match. Anand said "maybe the handshake should also go through the arbiter". |
Apr-28-10 | | Vollmer: 0500 west coast (groan....coffee please) |
Apr-28-10 | | corbulo: <rafnoc22> omg! lolz! |
Apr-28-10 | | donehung: Damn, how can Topalov alienate his fans anymore. Even his staunchest supports are finding it hard to root for him. Its like rooting for the humans at the end of Avatar. |
Apr-28-10 | | donehung: BTW is Wesley So now a religion? |
Apr-28-10 | | acirce: Yes, does Topalov <want> to be disliked or what's up really? Does he derive some kind of masochistic pleasure from it? |
Apr-28-10 | | Caissanist: Chessvibes game 3 video is now up: http://www.chessvibes.com/reports/w.... The audio is much better than on the official site and subtitles are provided for the non-English answers. |
Apr-28-10 | | Caissanist: I'm curious--are there any Spanish speakers who understand Topalov's Spanish? I thought he was speaking Bulgarian until he had almost finished. |
Apr-28-10 | | SirChrislov: <Caissanist> Lo unico que yo entendi fue "poshishon normal". |
Apr-30-10 | | tranquilsimplicity: Aside from Technical Draw's excellent humour, there are some very wise thoughts from one of us that should not go unnoticed; comments by DWAustin. |
May-01-10 | | Minty: <Ulhumbrus: On 33 Bxb5 Black loses if he enters a King and pawn ending eg 33...Rxb5 34 Rxb5 axb5 35 Rc7+ Rd7? 36 Rxd7+ Kxd7 37 Kd3 Kc6 38 Kc3 Kc5 39 Kb3 b4 40 a6 Kb6 41 Kxb4 Kxa6 42 Kc5 Ka5 43 Kd6 Kb4 44 Ke7 Kc3 45 Kf7 Kd3 46 Kxg7 Ke3 47 Kxf6 Kxf3 48 Kf5 Ke3 49 g5 hg 50 Kxg5 Kxe4 51 h6 Kf3 52 h7 e3 53 h8/Q winning.> No, you are incorrect. The position after 35. Rc7+ Rd7 36. Rxd7+ Kxd7 is dead drawn. 37. Kd3 Kc6 38. Kc3 Kb7! Black just shuffles his king back and forth between b7 and a7. If white plays Kb4, black replies with ...Ka6, winning the a-pawn. However, after 33... Rxb5 34. Rxb5 axb5, white does not play 35. Rc7+?, but 35. Rb1, and black can't defend the b-pawn. |
