Domdaniel: Ouch! Zhao, dead lost, swindles a mate. Black blunders in the face of a desperate attack.

Sally Simpson: Good Try Domdaniel: but you are not going to catch me with thus obvious attempt at an April 1st gag.

(Though good on you and C.G. for getting together in an attempt to pull it off.)

I spotted it right away, the clues being..

1) Nobody would get caught like that as Black.

2) The first names 'Art' and 'Daniel A' make an anagram of "Ran Data Lie.". Which translate to the game score is not correct.

Of course the anagram could be "Ran Real Data" in which case it's not an April Fools gag.

Own up Domdaniel and don't be in 'denial' (that is an anagram of 'Daniel') because I have you 'nailed' (so is that.)

Domdaniel: <Sally S.> Heh. Anagrams, eh? We see the truth through the binoculars of the people...

I think you'll find that "Daniel A. Yeager" is a combination of a computer intelligence (AI), a magician (Dee), and, um ... <Gary Lane>.

Oct-15-19  paavoh: 36.-h5 and 37.-Qf7 to block Q access to h6 and guard the squares around Black King.
Oct-15-19  Gouvaneur: Really? This game literally is of no chess value. White plays like a patzer and swindles a mate. Choosing games as the GOTD just for the sake of a good pun is really unnecessary. There are so many magnificent games played in tournaments daily. Can't be too hard to choose a decent game at least. P.S.: The pun sucks.
Oct-15-19  hdcc: <P.S.: The pun sucks.>

Maybe Yeager chucked the game?

Oct-15-19  RandomVisitor: After 36.Qg5 the computer has difficulty making progress against strong defense

mjmorri: The game quality is not great, but it does illustrate the danger of letting one's guard down. Queens and opposite colored Bishops can be difficult to play. Not nearly at the level as Spassky-Fischer Game 3, but in both cases the wrong colored Bishop proved nearly worthless when the game was on the line.
Oct-15-19  catlover: It's true that Zhao swindle a win out of a lost game, but swindles do happen in chess. I rather like the pun. "How Great Thou Art"...how often do we get a pun based on a Christian hymn?
Oct-15-19  Momentum Man: Yeager had the wrong stuff
Oct-15-19  ajile: After Black went up 2 pawns he needed to secure the k-side dark squares before considering pushing his q-side pawns. No way Black should lose this game.

Spot on <morf>!

Oct-15-19  Kay Sadeeya: Good game. Black was up a pawn with two good pawn islands and white had three isolated. But that was the deal of the Art.
Oct-15-19  CJC: I'm hoping that enough of us start (or continue) begging to make a GOTD based on its chess merits and artistry as opposed to some stupid wordplay that ChessGames.com starts to take notice. This game is completely worthless from a spectator's point of view. Please, let's change this dumb practice, and start showing games that are actually notable.

You got one just 10 days ago!

(I like the pun too, BTW)
