Feb-09-21  Brenin: Just to be different, and to prolong White's agony, 29 ... Bf3+ 30 Nf3 Qxf3+ 31 Kxh3 g4+ 32 Kh4 Bf6+ 33 Kh5 Qf5+ 34 Kxh6 Qg5#, or 30 Kf1 Bg4+ 31 Kg2 (Nf3 Qxf3+ 32 Ke1 Qe2#) Qf2+ 32 Kh1 Qg1#
Feb-09-21  Walter Glattke: 29.-Bf3+ 30.Kf1 Bh1+ 31.Ke2 Qf2#
Feb-09-21  Brenin: <Walter Glattke>: 29 ... Bf3+ 30 Kf1 Bh1+ 31 Ke2 Qf2+ 32 Kd1 and White survives, although 32 ... Bf3+ 33 Nxf3 exf3 gives Black a significant advantage.
Feb-09-21  Pawn Slayer: Am I the only person here who would fancy his chances against white? Inept is barely adequate to describe his strategy (or lack of it).
Feb-09-21  lost in space: 29...Qf2 30. Kxh3 g4+ 31. Kh4 Qxh2#
Feb-09-21  TheaN: Surprisingly, Black plays the suboptimal variation. You'd expect to at least review possible better moves after playing <29....Qf2+> alas, <30.Kh3 (Kh1 Qg1#) g4+ 31.Kh4 Qxh2#> is as forced as can be.
Feb-09-21  phantasmagorium: Doesn't the much less pretty 29.... Be2 30. Nd2 g4 kill also? Seems like this problem has too many solutions.
Feb-09-21  awfulhangover: Found a mate that goes 29...Qf2+ 30. Kxh3 g4+ 31. Kh4 Bf6+ 32. Kxh5 Qf5+ 33. Kxh6 Qg6# Missed 31.-Qxh2#. Hehe!
Feb-09-21  Damenlaeuferbauer: The unknown (at least to me) Venezuelan IM and five-times (!) winner of the championship of his country Julio Eduardo Ostos finally found the nice knight sacrifice 29.-,Qf2+! 30.Kxh3 and could now force a mate in two moves with 30.-,g4+! 31.Kh4,Qxh2#. One explanation could be, that he was in severe time pressure, had maybe just a few seconds till move 40 on his clock and already saw the other mate, which lasts one move longer. Nevertheless, a good King's Indian set-up and aggressive performance against white's Stonewall attack!

Feb-09-21  AlicesKnight: I went with ....g4+ instead of ....Qf1+ with ....Qxh2 to follow. The White Q'side seemed to be fiddling while Rome steadily burned.
Feb-09-21  Nullifidian: 29... ♕f2+ 30 ♔xh3 (♔h1 ♕g1#) ♙g4+ 31. ♔h4 ♕xh2#
Feb-09-21  catlover: I felt proud of myself when I could see a win with 29...Bf3+ then felt stupid when I saw the much clearer and shorter game line.
Feb-09-21  Halldor: A second Tuesday in a row? I solved this one but failed yesterday (didn’t see 25 Qa3+).

Now I saw immediately that Kh3 and Qf1 was nearly a mate, so it was easy to figure out some mating net. After 29... Qf2+ 30 KxN Qf1+ 31 Ng2, I went for: 31... Bf6 32 (Qe1 or whatever) and g4#. Not the best continuation but it does the trick.

Feb-09-21  KevinDenelsbeck: Bf3 is what I saw, and it mates as fast as the game line, yes?
Feb-09-21  Brenin: <KevinDenelsbeck>: Yes, 29 Bf3+ leads to mate, but in two moves more than the game line: see postings above by Granny O Doul and myself.
Feb-09-21  Louben: 29... Qf2 30. Rxh3 Qe2 and mate next move.

  perfidious: The 'Canard Formation'? Really?
Feb-09-21  sophiephilo: got the first move right but thought of: 30...g4+ 31. Kh4
Feb-09-21  Brenin: <Louben>: After 29 ... Qf2+ 30 Kxh3 I like your quiet 30 ... Qe2, its unforcing nature emphasising White's helplessness: 32 g4 and 32 Ng2 allow mate on g4, while 32 Nf3 allows Qf1. Playing 1 f4 when outgraded by several hundred points was just asking for trouble.

  HeMateMe: That is, followed by...g4+?
Feb-09-21  sudoplatov: I also found 29...Be2.
Feb-10-21  Brenin: <HeMateMe>: Yes, after 29 ... Qf2+ 30 Kxh3 Black has several ways to deliver mate, e.g. 30 ... g4+ 31 Kh4 Qxh2#, or 30 ... Qf1+ 31 Ng2 Qf5+ 32 g4 Qxg4#, or 30 ... Qe2 followed by Bg4#.
