Nov-05-14 | | whiteshark: Invisible <Grunfeld <Gambit>> ?!?! |
Nov-05-14 | | Shams: Fantastic game. The simple finish is 67.Rd3 (else 67...Nd6) ...h1=Q with a knight fork. |
Nov-05-14 | | Sokrates: Yes, fantastic game by both players. Grischuk played really brave and innovative and Gelfand did his best. A fine ambassador for chess, this game. |
Nov-05-14 | | The17thPawn: Wow! Impressive execution by Grischuk
in a tactical and strategic beauty. |
Nov-05-14 | | Zonszein: Isn't it interesting to play 18-Ne4 (?) |
Nov-05-14 | | a30seclegend: <Zonszein> On 18Ne4 i think black just takes on e5 and after white recaptures Rxf3 looks devastating followed by Bxe5. |
Nov-05-14 | | a30seclegend: Err pawn takes e5 of course : ) |
Nov-05-14 | | Shams: <Zonszein> I imagine Gelfand didn't like the look of 18.Ne4 Nxe5. |
Nov-05-14 | | NeoIndian: Hello, why is this line called Grunfeld "gambit"? |
Nov-05-14 | | greenfield67: I play the Grünfeld (hence the handle) and I'd just like to say that this - Bf4, c5 - is an uncommon plan to use against it. Once Black plays e5, he's got nice piece play, and Grischuk uses it energetically. There are White plans that are much more critical for the Grünfeld, but I suppose that these days most of the super-GMs with computers, assistants and Peter Svidler's phone number have ways to avoid the pitfalls. |
Nov-05-14 | | Shams: <NeoIndian> Black offered a pawn, it's just that White didn't take it. Grunfeld, Grunfeld Gambit Accepted (d84) |

 | | Domdaniel: Brilliant game. Grischuk won it twice, in effect. |

 | | HeMateMe: I have a difficult time interpreting black's waiting moves with his King. I'm probably not alone on that. |
Nov-06-14 | | JohnBoy: I very much like black's play from 20 through 25. |
Nov-06-14 | | optimuswise: HeMateMe: I have a difficult time interpreting black's waiting moves with his King. I'm probably not alone on that. Grischuk was just gaining time to the next time control(move 60). |
Nov-06-14 | | Zonszein: <a30seclegend> Thank you |

 | | Check It Out: Nice game. Black's Queen Knight should be paid time-and-a-half. |
Nov-07-14 | | haydn20: This fine game once again shows me why I will never understand GM practice. 6...Be6 (huh?)7...c6 8...Bc8 and Black undevelops his pieces without consesequences. I think Gris was already plotting 21...Nd2! (a move I would never have seen) when he played 17...Nc4. And then 26. e4? basically "asking for it". Still Gelf defends well until 36. Rcd1 (maybe 36. Bf1). With 3 P's for the Ex, Black's win is just technique for a GM but it was still a pleasure to watch Gris execute it (and his opponent) efficiently. |
Nov-07-14 | | Shams: <haydn20> The bishop retreat is not so hard to understand; after White has closed the center time is not so critical and Black's LSB is only getting in the way on e6. |

 | | FSR: Wonderful game. A masterpiece by Grischuk. |
Oct-07-16 | | Ironmanth: Loved this entire game, especially the late middle and end games. Really nice maneuvering by Black down the stretch. Will pay dividends certainly with study! Thanks for this one. |

May-20-17 | | caracas1970: what happened if white played 65.Kh3 ? |
May-20-17 | | Nerwal: <what happened if white played 65.Kh3 ?> 65. ♔xh3 d2 and the threat to shield the pawn with ♘d6 wins. |
Nov-06-18 | | Saniyat24: brilliant sacrifice by Grischuk, and after that he just got into overdrive...must have thought hard for quite sometime and then took the h-pawn with the bishop, all his moves made perfect sense after that, and then it was flawless execution...! |
Nov-06-18 | | Saniyat24: <haydn20> yes 21...Nd2 was a dive-bomber move by Grischuk...! |
