Probably Black saw how awful 17....Bxc5 was and so he managed to hit on something much worse.

Dec-28-18  Cibator: Some odd choices altogether by Black. His KN could have reached d5 from f6 in a single move, instead of taking a completely unnecessary circular tour via d7 and b6.
Dec-16-20  Messiah: Terrible!
