Jun-22-15  Mating Net: Topalov is en fuego! No 'luck' about this game.
Jun-22-15  cornflake: Topolov is like butter in this tournament because he's on a roll.

FSR: <MindCtrol9: If I'm not wrong, Black is lost.>

You were wrong. :-)

Jun-22-15  whiteshark: So luck strikes again for Topalov.

Penguincw: On a much less important note: Topalov reaches a career high rating of 2821.1, which is 5th highest ever. :)
Jun-22-15  chesssantosh: <cg> switch to carlsen-nakamura?
Jun-22-15  cornflake: no "luck" here. Topolov played the better game and won

FSR: You'd think that someone could hold as White against Topalov in this tournament.

Penguincw: < whiteshark: So luck strikes again for Topalov. >

I don't think Topalov got lucky here. He just outplayed Grischuk...

Jun-22-15  cornflake: On a side note - some of the chess engine evaluations about this game were ridiculous
Jun-22-15  Marmot PFL: Anand the only one to stop him now.
Jun-22-15  MindCtrol9: I told you, Grischuk could not draw this game having Topalov an extra piece , the position of the King close to the white passed pawns, the extra resource if there threat to give the piece back if it was necessary, made white game without too much hope for a draw.
Jun-22-15  MindCtrol9: <FSR> Mistake typing.
Jun-22-15  Marmot PFL: Looks like Naka losing so Anand have clear 2nd.
Jun-22-15  chesssantosh: Did Gris resign or flag?
Jun-22-15  MindCtrol9: Taking another look at this game.Grischuk, on move 20, he captured on d6 and I asking myself why he did not retrieve the Knight to d3.The white Rook on a8 is not protected where axe5 was not possible. The move <20.Nc7> was a bad move and brought the loss of this game in my opinion.
Jun-22-15  MindCtrol9: <20.Nd3 attacking the b4 pawn followed by 21.Ne4>
Jun-22-15  MindCtrol9: Followed by< 21.Nd4 not Ne4 which is an illegal move.
Jun-23-15  posoo: CLINNACAL
Jun-23-15  woodbeast: Topa is such a dark horse.
Jun-23-15  Andrew Chapman: 'The white Rook on a8 is not protected' - I thought the same thing, but actually it is protected by the knight on b6. Andrew
Jun-23-15  Ulhumbrus: The computer evaluations suggest that although Black has the advantage after 18 Qd4, it is not enough to win. Grischuk may however have been upset after seeing the sudden thrust 17...g5! winning a piece.
Jun-23-15  Moszkowski012273: I agree -<Ulhumbrus>... Topa did though miss the stronger (I'm sure it's already been mentioned) 18...Qd8
Jun-23-15  Severin: What was the idea behind 21. ... Re7? Wouldn't Rd7 be better, to prevent Nxd6?
Jul-04-16  TITIKIZA: <Mindctrol9>the knight on b6 is protecting the rook
