Apr-22-18  WinKing: Stockfish 9 thinks this position is equal 0.00. I find that hard to believe.
Apr-22-18  ChessHigherCat: <Winking> Because you think black or white is better? I thought black had the advantage before but now I'm not so sure. Imagine if it was all a ploy to draw black's pieces away from the castle
Apr-22-18  WinKing: I like black <ChessHigherCat>. That wall of pawns on the queenside looks pretty intimidating. Unless white can drum something up with a kinside attack.
Apr-22-18  WinKing: All depends on who is faster.

chancho: Someone had an all nighter. 😂
Apr-22-18  WorstPlayerEver: Let's see, Mamed has 571 pawns for a Bishop..
Apr-22-18  morfishine: Lets see now, slept in, coffee's ready, donuts are hot, got a comfortable seat....Yikes! White is lost!!

And its only the 4th move

Apr-22-18  BOSTER: White has no any attack. Black will win.
Apr-22-18  malt: 27.Nd4
Apr-22-18  Pedro Fernandez: Four pawns vs one on the queenside, motif of preoccupation, just saying. Meanwhile, apparently Topalov wants to attack the black king. Interesting!

An Englishman: Good Morning: Nice to wake up to a back alley brawl over the chessboard. White's gambit with 15.Bh6 has a long history, mostly favorable for the first player, starting with Yates vs Gunsberg, 1914.
Apr-22-18  ChessHigherCat: Black has the advantage but maybe Nd4 with a miracle attack
Apr-22-18  WorstPlayerEver: 27. Rad1 a wise decision, I heard Black Knights can be pretty dangerous at d3 ;)
Apr-22-18  WorstPlayerEver: SF suggested 27... Rae8 also but I don't get it; my infamous intuition says 27... Rd6

An Englishman: Good Morning: Incidentally, Spielmann mentions the same gambit as a type of "deflecting or decoy" sacrifice in The Art of Sacrifice in Chess, although he recommends 16.Qe3,Re8; 17.Qf4, continuing "White has a strong attack against the hostile castled position. Black's Knight is out of play and for the time being is unable to participate in the defense." Wonder what he would have thought of this position (after 29.Rxd3).

AylerKupp: <<WinKing> Stockfish 9 thinks this position is equal 0.00. I find that hard to believe.>

Remember what an evaluation of [0.00] means. It doesn't mean that the game will necessarily end in a draw (although that could very well be the outcome) but that the <chances> for both sides are even. That's another way for Stockfish and the other engines to say that the position is "unclear". I don;t know about you but I think that I would agree with that interpretation of the evaluation of [0.00] in this game.

Apr-22-18  morfishine: I wonder if <chessgames.com> will pickup any live games from the US Championship. There's been some pretty good games played over there at the "other" tournament
Apr-22-18  WinKing: <AylerKupp: I think that I would agree with that interpretation of the evaluation of [0.00] in this game.>

Not me <AK>. I think Stockfish had this one all wrong.

Apr-22-18  ChessHigherCat: Too bad white's rook isn't on d7, he could play Rxf7, Kxf7 Qxh7+ Bg7 Ne5#, I think,
Apr-22-18  WorstPlayerEver: <AylerKupp>

0.00 or -0.00 can also mean SF thinks the position is unclear.

Apr-22-18  WorstPlayerEver: PS oops sorry, I only read the reference ;)
Apr-22-18  morfishine: <ChessHigherCat> I was looking at that theme sac <f7> Queen invasion <h7> using White's KR. He needs to secure the back rank and clear his Knight first. Is there enough time? I doubt it
Apr-22-18  malt: Pondering 29...Re4 or 29...b4
Apr-22-18  Pedro Fernandez: 29...b4!? seems a good move, trying to construct (create) a pawn roller. Note that white bishop works on light square, so that it cannot control the important c8-escaque.
Apr-22-18  ChessHigherCat: <morf> Maybe Topalov has an extra-move coupon?
