Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-01-05  Knight13: I think Horwitz noticed the Rxe2+ but it was too late. Pins are painful on an wide open king. 17. Kh1 might have been better.

<17. Kh1 might have been better.> Black has the powerful reply 17...Qh5, with the threats of 18...Qh2# and 18...Nf2+ winning the queen.
Jan-06-05  Knight13: <beatgiant> What if 19. Rxf2 ? Does Black still win the Queen?

  beatgiant: <Knight13>: To be specific, what can happen is 17. Kh1 Qh5 18. h3 Nf2+ 19. Rxf2 Qxd1+.
Jan-07-05  Knight13: <beagiant: 19. Rxf2 Qxd1+> How do you do the Qxd1+ ? The queen is on g6. There is no way to capture on d1.

beatgiant: <Knight13>:<How do you do the Qxd1+ ? The queen is on g6. There is no way to capture on d1.> The whole line I mentioned is 17. Kh1 <Qh5> (note that the queen is now on h5) 18. h3 Nf2+ 19. Rxf2 Qxd1+ (the queen moves from h5 to d1, capturing the queen).
Feb-20-05  rochade18: How do you think about 5..Qe4+? I don't like it, because White gains a tempo with Nc3. So I'd prefer Qd8 in order to put the queen on either e7 or d7 after the bishops have come out.
Oct-14-14  wellsometimes: How about 35...Bf3? instead of 35...Qd5?
Why not?
