Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-17-04  DiceToThat: Is this really a forced win, or just a blunder by white?

Furthermore, even if it is a forced win, I would question whether or not it's worth the hassle. 121 moves? Get real. You could play 2 more games instead.

Dec-28-04  fgh: Forced win for black, white can't avoid mate or material looses.
May-30-07  mjk: Did they throw out the 50-move draw rule?

At move 70 it is a drawn position, but White blunders at move 119 and chooses a "Lose in 16" continuation -- <Nalimov>.

BUT, since move 121 is 50 moves without a capture or a pawn move, why didn't White claim a draw?

SwitchingQuylthulg: <mjk> because you miscalculated. There is a capture on move 72.
May-22-12  JonathanJ: with 121. Kf8!! white could have prolonged his struggle.

121. Kf8 Rd4
122. Re1 Rd8+
123. Re8

Draw by 50 move rule.
