Why is it that every time I play over a Nimzowitsch game, he -always- seems to have both of his knights planted in outposts in the middle of the board? :-)

Mar-19-12  bystander: 22) Db7x, dc4x 23) Da6x Df7 looks better to me
Mar-19-12  RookFile: 10. Bg5 might be a good move for white.
Mar-19-12  psmith: <Rookfile> Do you mean 9. Bg5? Or maybe 11. Bg5? (10. Bg5 axb5 )
Mar-20-12  RookFile: 9. Bg5
Mar-27-12  bystander: <rookfile 9)Bg5 might be a good move for white> 9)Bg5 Be7 10) c3 0-0-0 11) Be7x (Qg5x+ is not possible anymore)Neg7x looks ok for white, but helps black to develop, and for me it is not clear how white should continue the game.
Jul-18-12  himadri: And nice system too!
Oct-02-16  whiteshark: <notyetagm: <...planted in outposts>> They're not outposts when still on your half otb.
Oct-10-21  joeld: This is very reminiscent of Pilnik-Geller 1955.

plang: 5 c3, 5 Nf3, 5 Bd3 and 5 Bb5 had been played previously; 5 Ne2 was new. Nimzovich thought he should have played ..Bg6 either on the 6th or 7th moves. 13..Nf7 was stronger as 14 e6?..Qxe6 15 Bxa6..Rxa6 16 Re1..Nce5 is good for Black. 16 Na4 would have been an improvement leading to a likely decisive queenside attack after 16..b6 17 Qc3. The game started to turn after the enterprising pawn sacrifice 19..f4!? freeing the f5 square for the king knight and giving black a pawn majority on the kingside. Giving up the bishop protecting his king with 28 Bxd5? was certainly an odd choice. 37 Rf3? lost at once; Nimzovich offered the following interesting line: 37 Qh3..Rh7 38 f5!..Rg5 39 f6..Nf5! 40 e6..Rgh5 41 Rxf5..Rxh3+ 42 Kg2..Rh2+ with a draw.
