Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-25-06  InitiativeCheck: Fighting chess for sure! Viktor plays valiantly to no avail. The rook ending catches up with him.
Dec-19-07  Sularus: regarless of VK's age, beating victor when he is using his pet defense is no easy task.
Nov-15-14  zanzibar: This game was featured in Keene's 1993-07-31 Spectator article:

http://archive.spectator.co.uk/arti...

<The win against Korchnoi was an amazing, unfathomable battle.>

Keene diagrams the position after 37...Bh5 (Stockfish shows White clearly winning after 30...Nc8):

Dec-29-21  Stanco: after 52...exd5 the draw cast the shadow over the board. The correct approach, as always, was to put into pieces developing: 44.Qh6 Qh1+ 45. Ke2 Qe4+ 46. Qe3 Qg4+ 47. f3 Qg2+ 48. Qf2 (and now black is forced to trade his queen into a hopeless position or give up the initiative) 48...Qxg6 49.Rxb6 (followed with R2b2) and the white rooks break through.
