Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-03-04  wall: 28...Qd7 draws. Not 28...Rxh3? 29.Nxf6 Kxf6 30.Qg4 Rh7 31.Qf5+ Kg7 32.Qxf7+ which wins for White. Another game with bishops of opposite color. After 33...Kf6 34.Rxa6 Rg8 35.Bd5 Rxg4+ 36.Kf1 Rh4 37.Ke1 Rh2, but maybe 38.b4 and White may have some winning chances.
Sep-10-04  wall: 28...Rxh3? fails to 29.Nxf6 Kxf6 30.Qg4 Rh7 31.Qf5+.

I guess the final moves would have been 34.Rxa6 Rg8 35.Bd5 Rxg4+ 36.Kf1 Rh4 37.Ke1 Rh2 38.b4 and bishops of opposite color probably draws.

Jul-17-08  RookFile: Bisguier's approach was kind of interesting in this game. He eschews the early f4 advance which Karpov and others embraced. Instead, he schemes of controlling the d5 square and blockading on it. Fischer's counterplay down the h file is strong, and Bisguier takes the draw while the draw is there for the taking.
Sep-03-13  jerseybob: Is Rfc8 the correct 14th move? The Lou Hays book gives 14..Rfe8 with 14.Rfc8 in parentheses as a suggestion. On the other hand, the Wade-O'Connell book gives 14..Rfc8. Of course good ole goofy Chess Review in its coverage of the 1957 Open - an article by Bisguier no less - doesn't give the game at all, frustrating since Bisguier claims in the article to have missed a win!
