Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-18-05  ksadler: White's position is obviously lost already, but why do both sides hold off taking the Knight on e3 (or moving it) for a few moves (I'm speaking of after 34. .. d4)
Mar-18-05  InspiredByMorphy: <ksadler> As you pointed out whites position is lost so why not try and promote that a pawn? Unfortunately black not only defends this from happening, but at the same time attacks the rook with 35. ...Qb5. Whites knight cant move so 36.Kg1 was played. Now black plays 36. ...Nf4 and white still cant move the knight because of 37. ...Ne2+ 38.Kh1 Ng3+ 39.hxg3 Qxf3+ which wins. What I wonder is if white could have gotten away with 37.Rxf4 e2 38.Re1 Qd3 39.f3 ?
Nov-26-05  Petrocephalon: Not 35.Nc2, b/c ..Qb4 wins.

Not 35..dxe3, b/c 36.fe Qb5 37.Kg1 is now winning for white (the a pawn can't be stopped). (Not 36..dxe3 for the same reason).

Not 37.Nc2, b/c ..Ne2+ 38.Kh1 Ng3+ mates.

Not 38.Rxf4, b/c ..e2 39.Re1 Qa5.
