Dec-07-03  thesonicvision: am i missing something here?

what's the continuation for white?

Dec-07-03  PizzatheHut: <chessgames.com> I think the moves here are incorrect. I checked with the CM8000 database, and they have the same move order as this site, with the exception of 26. Qb2. The program gives the move as 26. Qb5, which makes more sense. All of the other moves are the same, including the result. I think that 26. Qb5 is probably correct.

Honza Cervenka: The games Vaganian vs Karpov, 1971 and Vaganian vs Karpov, 1971 are copies of this one. I don't see any difference in the gamescore there.
Dec-08-03  AgentRgent: Honza, This one: Vaganian vs Karpov, 1971 has 25...Rd8 and the current game has 25...Rb8. I suspect that 25...Rb8 (the current game) is correct. However I agree that this game: Vaganian vs Karpov, 1971 and the current seem to be identical.

Honza Cervenka: <AgentRgent> I compared texts of gamescores and I overlooked that there is 25...Rd8 in one of that games instead of 25...Rb8. My eyes were probably a little bit tired yesterday evening.:-)

Of course, 25...Rd8 is an absolute nonsense (26.Rxd8 Qxd8 27.Rxd8 ).

Dec-09-03  Spitecheck: 16...Rd6 is a blunder accoring to the annotator in my book on Karpov's games.

Spitecheck

Dec-09-03  Spitecheck: <thesonic..> Judging by Vaganian's last move, he intends to simply take the black b-pawn . If ..Bc5 than b4. White's position is such that Karpov can do very little to stop white from simply promoting his material advantage.

Jun-13-04  ughaibu: Spitecheck: can you confirm that this is the correct version so that Chessgames can delete the remaining duplicate?
Jun-14-04  Benzol: This gamescore is correct according to "The games of Anatoly Karpov" by O'Connell and Adams.
Jun-14-04  ughaibu: Benzol: Thanks, strangely Chessbase has the incorrect score.
Nov-23-07  battleaxe: White is going to grab the b pawn to be two pawns up and they are unstoppable.
Oct-15-09  GMMandetowitch: "thesonicvision",white will just eat the b6 pawn and then the "a" pawn is a queen.Of course if ...Bc5 white amswers with the obvious a5,and that's it,game over.
Nov-12-16  ozmikey: <GMMandetowitch><Of course if ...Bc5 white amswers with the obvious a5,and that's it,game over.> 28. a5?? undefends the White queen and allows ...Rxb7. 28. b4 instead.
