Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-11-08  Knight13: It's already draw on move 33, but why play on? Must have like a rook endgame thing that White saw that could let him win, but then all I know is that R endgames where pawns on one side like this game is drawn.
Sep-14-15  Howard: Perhaps Korchnoi just wanted to have the psychological satisfaction of playing a pawn-up ending against Karpov though he knew it was pretty much a dead draw.

Keep in mind that Korchnoi was already down three points after the first four games. Maybe he just wanted to irritate Karpov for awhile in this game, dragging out a drawn endgame in which only Korchnoi had slight winning chances.

Jan-06-18  Senk: 30...Nc6!
