Mar-21-06  thegoodanarchist: I have looked at several games from the Korchnoi-Karpov World Championship matches of '78 and '81, and in tactical complications Korchnoi often outplayed Karpov. I don't care what Garry Kasparov says in his book, I don't think Karpov could have beaten Fischer in '75 based on what I've seen. Fischer would have beaten Karpov tactically and positionally.

Kortschnoi is tacticlly outplayed in the very first game of the match Korchnoi vs Karpov, 1981.

Mar-29-08  Wone Jone: <thegoodanarchist> Unless I'm mistaken, Fischer hadn't played a serious game of chess in two and a half years by the spring of 1975. Trying to beat a player the caliber of Karpov with that much rust; well, let's just say not even Fischer was that crazy!
Mar-29-08  capatal: Fischer did not appear to like his chances vs. Karpov - or he would have played for the title the way he won it. (You think?)
Apr-11-08  Knight13: What happens after 25...Qxc2 ? I don't see anything.
